Top 5 Pet Hates about Grand Theft Auto IV
GTA IV is a great game. Good graphics, compelling plot, great characters, funny, sad, interesting – with awesome game play and weapons. But, despite my love for the game there are a few things that really bug me about it. Here are my Top Five Pet Hates about GTA IV.
- 1. You’re always the hero. I know, I know – that’s what a game is about and that’s fine. But this is supposed to be real life. Rarely are you saved or rescued in the game and never are you rescued from any real danger. I would have liked to have been in that prison unable to get out, but had a cell phone and coordinated my escape. Roman could have smashed through the wall in a truck with Kate asking if I was okay.
- 2. The whole ‘relationship’ thing. It’s good. It’s like real life but it can get on your nerves. I don’t think they should have left it out, rather toned it down a bit. I always hated being halfway through a mission that I couldn’t avoid with Kate on the other end of the phone whining – we get that off our REAL girlfriends, I don’t need it when I’m having a bit of me time.
- Niko’s revenge plan. When I first heard about it in the game when he was telling Roman after killing Vlad I was expecting some big perilous mission across liberty city and beyond. But no. Life just goes on. All you do is drive around having touching conversations with Roman having popped some guy in a bloody airport. What the hell!?
- No military or planes. Okay, it’s obvious why they left them out. Rockstar didn’t want videos on YouTube of planes flying into buildings and ambushes on US military vehicles in what is supposed to be New York. Understandable. But they have always been there and I miss patrolling the streets in a Rhino tank. Sure there is the Annihilator but those bullets should really be rockets!
- The online play. How great would it have been to have a game mode where you can only play at Star Junction as everyone riots against a line of police? Oh, heaven. Instead, Rockstar have killed the violent, angry Liberty city by giving games of Cops and Robbers. Even free roaming is boring because everyone is too sparse. Either up the amount on each server or make new game modes!
Still a great game, but it could have been better in some areas.
