Finally, Duke Nukem Forever is here and available on the Xbox 360, PC and PS3.

“June 14 in North America will forever be celebrated as the day that legendary Duke Nukem Forever went from video game folklore to earth-shattering reality,” Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K Games, said.

“For 15 years, fans have waited in limbo just yearning to hear those two little lovely words strung together–now available.” Unfortunately, early reviews of the game aren’t as earth-shattering. Ars Technica’s Ben Kuchera said Duke Nukem Forever was “barely playable, not funny, rampantly offensive,” in his headline and concluded the only good thing about the experience was that “the game doesn’t last very long.”

Will you be buying Duke Nukem Forever?

We always have the same arguement about who would win between a PC Gamer and a PS3 player if they were playing the same game on the same servers without hacks, etc. I have been search all over the net but are yet to find any conclusive studies. Does anyone else know where I can find this kind of information?

It has been revealed that Portal 2 will be playable not just on the PC version, but on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions as well.

You’ll only be able to actually create these mods on a PC, Faliszek told NowGamer, but “the content that comes out is agnostic, and so we will be seeing that on all the platforms. Depending on the platform you’re on I should say, will depend on how we’re delivering it.”

PS3 will use Steamworks, and the PC will presumably use the usual mod portals, with installations made through Steam. No word on how it’ll work for the 360 yet.

Faliszek added: “There’s just a lot of value in engaging the community because they’re smart, they’re thinking of really cool things and we want to be able to have everyone share that.”

Ah the A3-21 Plasma Rifle; it is one of the strongest weapons in fallout 3 not only that but you can get it relatively quickly as well it’s also stylish to boot.

So do you want one?

Do the quest ‘The replicated man’ which involves searching for an escaped android from the commonwealth. The android is chief harkness, of rivet city but you will need to find clues that link the android to pinkerton, who can be found in the lower half of rivet city, before you can confront him about it.

When you have confronted him about it, offer to kill the scientist who wanted you to find him, and he will give you his plasma rifle, which does more damage than a regular plasma rifle and is more valuable. you can also get a perk from the scientist and the plasma rifle, by repeating the step above, but instead of killing him, turn in the android and you will be able to keep both rewards, although harkness will disappear from the game.

Too much work?

You could make your own A3-21 Plasma Rifle. If you’ve been paying attention to the pictures in the article or indeed if you’ve actually read the title you might of noticed pictures of the A3-21 Plasma Rifle all over the place. This replica rifle was done by the very talented Ryan Palse (CitizenStrips) and painted by his wife Dena Palse.

Check out some pictures of the finished project.

Here’s some work in progress .

… and here is the in-game model and the replica together so you can compare.

It’s only a small teaser really but it gives us a little peak of what to expect out of Co-op mode. I suggest you take a look then figure out who is the most patient/competent freind you know.

Ubisoft has been encountering a lot of opposition to it’s new DRM copyright protection that’s being used in Assassin’s Creed II for the PC, and rightfully so. The protection requires that the user maintain a constant internet connection if you want to play the game, and if that connection is severed you can’t play. Seriously. And that protection kicks in whether the connection is broken on the user or Ubisoft’s end.

Actually, that happened earlier this month. Ubisoft’s servers were attacked March 7, 2010 and as a result some Assassin’s Creed II owners weren’t able to play the game. But Ubisoft is trying to make it up to those rightful game owners the best way it can – with free games. Kotaku is reporting that gamers effected by the outage are receiving emails from Ubisoft offering a free download of Heroes Over Europe, Prince of Persia, Tom Clancy’s Endwar or Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.. I guess Ubisoft wants to give you something else to play, in case an outage like that happens again!

If you’re eligible for this free game giveaway, chances are an email from Ubisoft is already waiting for you in your inbox. If you own a copy of Assassin’s Creed II for the PC, had problems playing because of downtime and didn’t get the email then you should probably get in touch with Ubisoft Support and get what’s rightfully yours.

Game streaming service OnLive is set launch in the US this June on PC and Mac for a subscription of US$14.95.

When the service launches on June 17 it will have support from Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, THQ and Warner Bros. OnLive’s launch titles include Assassin’s Creed II, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and Metro 2033.

The subscription “provides access to an ever-increasing library of high-end, new release game content and a host of exclusive community feature such as Brag Clips and massive speculating,” COO Mike McGarvey told MCV.

“Individual titles will be available for purchase or rental on an a la carte basis. Specific game pricing, including rentals, purchases and loyalty programs, will be announced prior to the consumer launch event at E3. We’ll also be announcing additional loyalty and discount programs for consumers in the coming months.”

“We’re very pleased with the degree of publisher support received to date and have seen a rise in publisher interest in the OnLive Game Service as their focus begins shifting dramatically toward digital distribution.”

McGravey said that OnLive’s planned micro-console, which would plug into TVs, may be announced later this year.

He added: “We are very focused on launching the service in the US at the moment, but stay tuned on our European plans.”

Here’s what the website has to say.

“Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

Metro 2033 is a gripping, atmospheric first person shooter experience powered by cutting edge technology to deliver incredible visuals.

Witness the everyday horrors of a broken society living in constant fear.

Brave the darkness of the tunnels, where mutants hunt their prey and ghostly spirits lurk.

Explore the desolate city-surface, trusting your gas mask and rifle to protect you from a poisoned world and the creatures that roam there.

Steel your nerve and prepare to face the terrors that await. “

So the cat is out of the bag. Steam is coming to Mac. Let that sink in. Has it?

Gamers on the Mac have always been the unwanted step-children of the gaming community. Some claim that if you’re a gamer you need a PC, and while mobile devices are changing the face of gaming on computer systems, it’s nice to see Mac gamers get a nod with the release of Steam. When it comes to the public, expect Mac gamers to lock themselves away while they take advantage of the vast library using Valve’s network.

Steam will allow gamers to directly access their games from the network, download and start playing immediately. It’s also a great community builder since gamers can connect on Steam and play games together or against one another. While surfing the multi-player game servers, you’ll be able to join chats, matches and tournaments. Gamers on the network also benefit from automatic game updates.

What makes Steam even more appealing, is that the games you download are associated to the account, not the system you’re playing on. So if you choose to change computers, as long as it meets minimal requirements, then you’re gaming experience remains unchanged. So this coming April, Mac users with the latest version of Mac OSX will be able to access all this gaming goodness.

There’s still lots of questions with regards to how this will work on the Mac, and thanks to 1UP.com, here’s what Valve’s Director of Business Development, Jason Holtman has to say:

“Our Steam partners, who are delivering over a thousand games to 25 million Steam clients, are very excited about adding support for the Mac. Steamworks for the Mac supports all of the Steamworks APIs, and we have added a new feature, called Steam Play, which allows customers who purchase the product for the Mac or Windows to play on the other platform free of charge. For example, Steam Play, in combination with the Steam Cloud, allows a gamer playing on their work PC to go home and pick up playing the same game at the same point on their home Mac. We expect most developers and publishers to take advantage of Steam Play.”

The idea of good old games coming back to life can be seen in two ways. For one it can be seen as breathing new life into games, old favorites that just keep coming back, in one word, classic. These games have a special place in our gaming memories as games we loved, and games we wish we could play again. That’s where the second idea for good old games comes in, it’s an entire network of old games ready for you to download and play for low prices, but with all the fun you remember when you first played them.

The Good Old Games network looks to help gamers relive their experiences without having to purchase physical media, but rather download some of their favorites straight to their computer, all DRM free. Included in the network are games like Myst, Arcanum, Fallout, Duke Nukem, Heroes of Might and Magic I, II, and III to name a few. These games are available for prices as low as $5.99 and up. Some of these games you can’t even find anymore, so the network has set itself up as a way to help the entities still make some money off these old games, but by also allowing users to download the content as use as they wish.

Combing through the catalog you’re sure to find some titles you might remember (if you’ve been gaming for awhile). Let us know what you think. There’s no subscription service, no hidden fees, buy the game and download it. Simple. Easy. Fun.

Catch the entire interview with Good Old Games creators as they share their vision with bringing this project to life.

Kodu is a community game cum programming environment for the Xbox 360. Unlike most other video games, Kodu would let players create their own video games for the Xbox without any prior knowledge of programming.

The initial version of Kodu required the Xbox 360 console but now Kodu is available as a free download for your Windows PC as well. This means you no longer need an Xbox to design games with Kodu and you can play them on just about any computer using a keyboard and mouse (or an Xbox game controller, if you have one).

You can download Kodu for PC from fuse.microsoft.com/kodu. Additionally, the graphics settings can be turned down to allow it to run on a computer with lower resources. Kodu requires .NET 3.5 and the XNA framework 3.1 to run — if you don’t have them, the Kodu installer will automatically download and install them for you.

In this CES video, a 12-year old girl is making a computer game with Kodu live on-stage — she’s using Xbox but you can use a Windows PC as well with Kodu.
