Hint: Spear & Axe Reclamation

When countering enemies with the axe or spear, Ezio will lose the weapon as it will be impaled or buried in the target.

You can easily reclaim the weapon by picking up the corpse and dropping it. The weapon embedded in the dead body will pop back out for re-use.
Easter Egg: Super Mario Bros. Reference

At the beginning Sequence 3, the character Mario exclaims “Itsa me, Mario!” A clear reference to the 52nd Governor of New York, Mario Cuomo. Or Super Mario. Your call!

Unlockable: Abilities

The following items can be unlocked by performing the actions below:

* Climb Leap Ability – Complete Rosa’s mission “Monkey See, Monkey Do” in Sequence 7 to earn the climb leap ability. With this ability, you can make longer jumps while climbing, letting you grab hand holds that’d normally be out of reach.
* Disarm Combat Technique – Complete Mario’s “Evasive Maneuvers” mission in Sequence 5 to unlock the disarm technique. Disarms let you counter incoming attacks from weapons that are normally too heavy to counter (like axes).

Easter Egg: From the Deep

In Santa Maria Delle Visitazione, in the Assassin’s Tomb, you’ll come across a large flooded room just before one of the Armor of Altair seals. Pull the lever and peer into the water. Wait a minute or so and you’ll see a shadow below. Pull the lever again and peer into the murky depths once more and a tentacle will reach out to grab (and miss) Ezio.

Hint: Lower Your Notoriety

If you’re close to getting a “Notorious” rating, go to a Herald and bribe him. After you bribe him just steal the money back.

Unlockable: Equipment

The following items can be unlocked by performing the actions below:

* Condottiero War Hammer – Collect 50 hidden feathers and the Condottiero War Hammer will become available in the blacksmith’s shop in the Villa Monteriggioni.
* Auditore Cape – Collect 100 hidden feathers and then talk to Mario in the Villa Monteriggioni. He’ll award you the Auditore Cape.

Hint: Free Medicines and Throwing Knives

If you’ve got room in your inventory for more medicines or throwing knives, loot dead bodies and you’ll occasionally find these items for free.

Cheat: Easy Bonus Team Photo Challenge

A simple way to beat the Bonus Team Photo Challenge is to stand on the ledge above where the sponsor is supposed to handplant. Once you get up there, wait for him to approach the launch ramp and do a flip trick off the ledge just as he handplants.

Unlockable: Hideki Tower Spawn Point

Beat about 3/4 of the Thrasher Hall of Meat Challenges to unlock a spawn point atop Hideki Tower.

Cheat: Easy Jam with Danny Way Pro Challenge

For Jam with Danny Way, you can curtail the competition by dragging a roadblock object in front of Danny’s path down the ramp. Just hop off your board and grab a roadblock from the top area and drag it over before starting the challenge. Don’t block your own route down (although there are multiple starting ramps, Way uses only one).

Cheat: Eject! Version 2.0

This version of the automatic bail is much harder to pull off, but you do go higher and thus it is more effective for Thrasher Hall of Meat Challenges if you can get it down. First, press the Left Trigger very lightly to crouch all the way down, but not touch your board. Coast while crouching and quickly tap the combo for a No Comply (push with your back foot and flick an ollie — it’s in your trick book, and it matters which foot is forward!). This must be done on flat ground. If you do this right you should spring off your board and catch some serious air.

Unlockable: Dyrdek’s Fantasy Plaza Pack Secret Achievements

Skylight Superstar (25 points): Find the square of grind-able yellow bars around a hole during the first Film Challenge. Get off your board and jump down through this hole, a skylight in the building’s roof.

No Hard Hats Required (25 points): After a film challenge you’ll be near two industrial popes — well, one-and-a-half, really. The top of the complete pipe is your goal. Use your Eject! Auto-bail; glitch skills to get up here. First, align yourself with the pipe standing between the two. Now, use the glitch to fly on top. Recover safely on the pipe to get the Achievement. Alternately, you can pump the pipe until you loop it

Unlockable: Secret Achievement

Do 5000 Mongo Pushes (front-foot pushes) to unlock the Mongo Pusher Achievement.

Easter Egg: 3D Mode

To switch the game into 3D mode (requires 3D glasses), enter this (case sensitive) code in the Extras menu: strangeloops

Cheat: Easy BLAOW! Hip to Hip Transfer

For the tricky hip transfer there’s no need to play by the rules. Skate to the corner that you first have to launch off of for the transfer. Set your Session Marker and push once towards the middle of the opening of the marked corner. If you go too fast you will bail. Get off your board when you get to that corner opening, but make sure to NOT touch where the transfer begins. Walk across the pool towards where your supposed to land the transfer. Jump once (not on your board) then jump one more time getting on your skateboard in mid air, landing on the bottom wall of where you have to land the transfer. This should highlight the transfer requirement on the list. Grind the siding to complete the challenge.

Cheat: Eject!

Note: You may be able to do this while still, but we were best able to pull this off while slowly moving. First, you must be on flat ground. Hop off your board with Y then quickly hop back in so it’s all in one motion. But just as you feet near the board, hold Y + B + Right Trigger + Left Trigger. You may need to practice this to understand the timing. This will launch you skater about 50 feet skyward, immensely lengthening your air time when trying to bail and giving you more points for Thrasher Hall of Meat Challenges.

Unlockable: Places

Unlock the following places on the Challenge Map by performing the actions listed below:

* Training Park – Beat all of all Team Film Challenges
* S.V. Dam – Beat all of the Thrasher Mag challenges to drain
* S.V. Summit – Beat all of the Death Races to unlock the northernmost spawn point
* GvR Plaza – Beat all of the Street Challenges to unlock the etnies GvR Plaza.
* S.V. Stadium (Mega-Ramp) – Complete all of the Tranny Contests
* Monster Clubhouse – Beat the Raising Coin Demo and purchase for $200,000

EA Black Box

Hint: Skitching

Cars go about twice as fast as you can push yourself on flat ground, so there are advantages to grabbing on to them when you get a chance. It is a good way to get an extra boost during a race, find some extra speed for a big gap, escape a chase or just another way to get around New San Vanelona.

Press and hold the ‘world grab’ button (same button for handplants and grabbing objects) to hitch a ride onto the back bumper of cars. You can grab onto them at a stop light or a stop sign or cars will also slow down when you swing in behind them (while holding down the world grab button) when you have some speed.

Once you grab on, the cars will start to speed. However, they still have to obey the rules of the road and they might get stuck behind a slower car ahead or stop at a light. So, keep your eyes on what is happening ahead and be ready to let go. When you let go from the side, hanging on with one hand, you pull yourself forward for an extra boost. Make McFly proud and watch for sports cars, they drive faster.

Unlockable: Reg’s Mini-Ramp

Slappy bought the old Reg’s mini-ramp, tweaked it a bit and hid it near his shop. Complete all of the Thrasher and Skateboard Mag Challenges, Death Races, Demos and Tranny and Street Contests (everything but the Pro and Bonus stuff) and Slappy will give you the keys to the Reg’s mini-ramp. It’s right behind the drop in to the park, where you start the game. Go into this warehouse area and move some dumpsters to get to it. It’s a small bowl / pool area, not really a ramp.

Unlockable: Big Black in Freeskate and Party Play

To unlock Big Black for Freeskate and Party Play, enter this code at the in-game cheat menu: letsdowork.

Hint: On Top of the World Achievement

First, you must unlock SV Peak via completing all the K.O.T.M. Death Race Challenges. Now, teleport to that location and find the shack with the quarter-pipe in it. Set up the ramp in an open area. Push up to this ramp and do a handplant invert to unlock the Achievement.

Cheat: Alien Manual Shop Easy Victory

The Alien Manual Shop Pro Challenge is one of the game’s most difficult challenges — especially for people with overstressed thumbs. The good news is that you won’t need to do any touchy manuals at all for this Challenge if you don’t want to. Instead, get off your board and hop onto the first planter. Run across the planter and hop up the step, then off the other side. Stand still and get on your board again. This will activate the first bullet point of your challenge. Now, get off your board and hop onto the next planter. Hop across the gap between the planters. Run across the last section of planter and hop off. Stand still and get back on your board to inexplicably finish the challenge. Note for non-cheaters: If you want to take the challenge on without cheating, try coming at it backwards so you can just manual down the little step without bothering with an ollie. The gap… well that’s a different story. But still, hit it backwards.

Cheat: Easy Throwdown Victory

First, find the “boob” used in the Throwdown in Lighthouse Park. You can head west, out the park gate, to find a big blue bench. Drag it over and place it lengthwise and so it’s not in your own way. Now activate the Throwdown and choose the other skaters. Choose the Lighthouse for your venue and each opponent will glitch out and bail due to the foreign object. Complete this list for a Trophy / Achievement. Note: to beat Pros at a Throwdown without cheating, try doing double or triple kickflips. They cannot copy them.

Cheat: Easy Dunk Slam Challenge

Here’s the thing: you don’t need to touch the backboard, you just need to plant in front of it. The key to this is a broken picnic table on the upper level of the area, to the right of where you spawn. Drag this down to the hoop, and drag one of those quarter pipes on top of it. These two things stack to make a hand plant spot on the lip of the elevated half pipe that’s high enough to glitch out the photo. Put the table under the hoop, touching the pole of the hoop, making the first part of a two part ramp. Inch the quarter-pipe ramp up on top of this, far enough up the table so it just clears the bottom of the hoop — and so your skater won’t hit it. Now, back up about 3 pushes, go straight up your double decker ramp and handplant it — you seem to need to tweak the handplant to get this challenge to complete.

Cheat: Can You Spell Girl? Glitch Trick

While S.K.A.T.E. is a gentleman’s game, there’s an exploit that you can use if you are tearing your hair out for the incredibly difficult Can You Spell Girl? Pro Challenge — and yes, it’s cheating. First, though, start the challenge and quit out. Now, make sure you haven’t moved the two items involved in the challenge: the ramp and the rail. Go reset both of these if they’ve been moved, or for good measure. Now you’ll need another rail like the one in the challenge setup. It must be from far away to work, you can’t use the nearby one at the bottom of the spillway, so you have some dragging to do. Go up the spillway tubes and ramps until you find the rail way up the hill past the overhanging bridge area. Pull that back and BE SURE NOT TO TOUCH THE CHALLENGE OBJECTS WITH IT. Pull it in between the picnic table ramp and the rail so it’s parallel with the challenge’s rail. Leave it and start the match. Now, the first trick will occur and it will seem like nothing’s changed. But the second fellow will bail after jumping awkwardly and — lo and behold — your grind rail has appeared! Yes, they will keep bailing. So big ollies, adding some spin and so forth will get you a victory. Finally, be sure to hit QUIT instead of RETRY if given the option — this is a byproduct of the glitch. You will still complete the challenge if you choose QUIT.

Unlockable: Crowns

To attain the desired crown, perform the actions listed below:

* Legend – Reach Legend status online
* King of the Mountain – Beat every Race Challenge in Career Mode

Hint: Easy S.K.A.T.E. Win

Just like in the first Skate, adding 540 degrees of spin will overwhelm the simple computer characters’ programs. They either won’t try the move, or they will bail. Remember to push both analog sticks in the direction of your spin to spin faster. Honestly, they’ll usually bail on a 360 spin move too, so as long as you’re spinning, you’re winning!

If you can’t get the height needed for a 540 spin, triple flips will also trip up your computer opponents. These require you to flick and hold a kickflip, allowing the board to spin multiple times before you land.

Also, adding a footplant upon landing, then continuing to spin will cause the spin to add up. Spin 360 degrees, footplant, and spin 180 degrees and you’ll have an unstoppable 540.

Hint: Easy Money

At the start of a race you are given the option to make a wager on the results. Crank this amount up to the maximum amount and begin the race. If you are doing poorly, pause it and restart. If you know you will win, cross the finish line and collect your winnings.

Unlockable: Dem Bones

Complete the finall Hall of Meat Challenge to unlock your old friend Dem Bones, an animated skeleton.

Unlockable: etnies Skatepark

Win first place in all the Street Contests to unlock the etnies Skatepark.

Unlockable: Lindley Tower Spawn Point

After beat the first several Hall of Meat challenges, you will unlock a spawn point called “Lindley Tower” on your map. Go hear to do some serious damage to your body. Until then, check out the SV Dam, unlocked after finishing all Thrasher challenges. It’s quite a drop!

Cheat: Change Clothing Color for Free

New T-shirts, Hoodies etc. cost cold, hard cash; so if you want to roll in certain colors it will cost you. To change your clothing’s color free of charge, press pause and go to “Edit Skater.” Buy a clothing item and leave the store. Now return to the store and select “Custom T-shirt.” Select a color but instead of checking out, choose “Remove Item” on your receipt to remove the Custom T-shirt. Now, go back to the store (don’t exit) and you can still change the color of what you are wearing.

Unlockable: Spots for Freeskate and Party Play

“Kill” a spot (beat the second point requirement) after discovering it in Campaign Mode to unlock it for Freeplay and Party Play. There are 22 spots to unlock.

Unlockable: Avatar Rewards

The following Avatar items can be unlocked by performing the actions below

* Elvis Plushie – Complete the special misson (unlocked by beating the game on any difficutly)
* Perfect Dark Shirt – Score a headshot in any game mode

Hint: Shielded Enemies
If there is a level with shielded enemies, use the K7 Avenger, or the AR34. Another way to eliminate them is to use the Mauler with charged up shots. This also works on Skedar Warriors.

Hint: Easier Explosives
On Area 51: Rescue, you don’t need the crate to blow up the wall. Leave the crate where you find it, get a Dragon, then go to the marked wall. Stand back, switch to the secondary mode (proximity self-destruct), throw it by the mark and shoot it a couple of times. Voila!

Hint: Carrington Office Rampage
You can fire weapons out into the rest of the Carrington Institute using the Farsight XR20, but another way to explore the stage in training mode is to use the crate from the cargo area to jam open the doors to the firing range.

Then fire off a tele-guided Slayer round into the main foyer of the Institute. Since the missile has no fuel, you can move it anywhere the heck you want to where there are no closed doors.

Hint: Firing Range Trick
Here’s a handy little trick if you’re having problems beating all the weapons challenges in the firing range. Go into the Carrington Institute firing range and access the Laptop Gun challenge (for any medal). When the training session begins hold down the B button so the gun switches over to the secondary weapon mode (sentry gun). Hit Z to deploy the sentry gun — but as soon as you hit Z hit the START button. Select “abort”, then hit START again as soon as the screen starts to fade. You should now be back at the weapon challenges list. You can now pick any challenge you haven’t completed and commence the training. If done properly, the sentry gun should still be deployed and will start firing at the targets and beat most of the challenges for you. Note that there are some challenges where this trick doesn’t work, such as the RCP-120.

Unlockable: Cheese List
Why are there pieces of cheese hidden in Perfect Dark? Well… The guys who made this game are from England, and… Ah, hell. We don’t know. But here are the cheese locations:

* 1.1: Enter the first big room, with the big ventilation fan, the light switch and the security hub. Just to the right of the security hub is a large gray cylinder, hit the cylinder with some type of explosive. A large hole will open up, enter the hole and you will fall to a small room with 3 vents and a ladder. Inside one of the vents you will find the cheese.
* 1.2: The cheese in the dataDyne research lab is on the pipes below the glass floor in the lab where the bastard scientist sounds the alarm on you. The glass I’m talking about is forward and below from the entrance to that particular lab. At least I think it’s cheese….
* 1.3: On mission 1.3, you can kill a guard to get the keycard [see walkthrough for instructions on how to get this key card] to Cassandra’s office. She isn’t there this time, but there’s a grenade on her table. If you throw it in the right hand corner of the room, one of the walls breaks away. Inside you’ll find a Dragon and… a piece of cheese!
* 2: After activating the wind generator, continue through the underground passages towards Carrington. After going down a set of steps you’ll soon end up in the wine cellar. The first room has two shelves of bottles, but no cheese. Proceed through this room to the narrow hall. Jackpot. You are in a small, narrow hall with a shelf of wine bottles on the left and one further down on the right. The left one has a small piece of stinky yellowy-orange (with darkish looking holes) cheese on top. It’s pretty much in the middle on top, and it’s kinda hard to see. Once you’ve located a spec of yellow, use the sniper rifle to zoom in and inspect your prize. It’s unmistakable — that’s cheese. –Dallas Gow
* 3.1: In a toilet in the Punk Pond bar. [see walkthrough for route into Pond Punk]
* 3.2: In the vent in the Damping Control room. Behold the power of cheese.
* 4.1: Not discovered yet.
* 4.2: In level 4.2, it helps if you have a sniper rifle [cheat]. You have to do it on the difficulty special agent or higher. Blast through the wall and head down to the locker rooms. Go through the door in the middle and kill all the guys there. Go up the ramp across from the door. Then you get to the t-section you should see a section of railing in front of you just to the right. Kneel down and pull out the sniper rifle and look straight ahead down the vent shaft and you will see the cheese. You can walk across the piping and go into the vent shaft but if you go too far you’ll fall into the locker room.
* 4.3: On escape from area 51,on special agent play the level normally, cross the zig-zag bridge that spans across the gorge and make your way through the next room (where johnathon is on agent difficulty)when you come to the next door, just keep heading straight through the series of doors ahead of you until you come across a big room with catwalks and support rails heading off into the left on the first one there is a break in the rail that you can walk out on the rail to a little vent..duck,zoom in with the sniper rifle..and theres that sweet cheddar!!!
* 5.1: Go through the caves where you sedate the stewardess and head to the left of the cable line all the way against the mountain. Pull out your slipery sniper rifle and point and zoom it at the water where the arrowshaped mountain seems to indicate. Swiss cheese it is my fiends. –duros bith
* 5.2: The cheese on the level where you are on Air Force One is on some equipment near where the presidential escape pod is. –Andrew
* 5.3: If you go to the right side of air force 1 on the crash site level and look through the crevice on the right side of the wall guarded by one of those “Scandanavian Freaks”, you’ll see a little speck of yellow. Upon further inspection (with the sniper rifle) it is quite apparent that you are looking at a block of cheese!!! You can’t get to it because of an invisible wall, so you may have trouble finding a good viewing angle.
* 6.1: Say goodbye to Elvis and proceed through the first door. Turn right and go down the hall. Left at the alarm and through the door. There should be a sort of pillar in this smallish area. Keep going a bit and there will be a door on the left. The door leads to the room with the big power thingy (where you have to use the XRayScan to hit switches). Don’t go through the door, but instead walk forward a bit. There will be a large grate in the floor. Shoot out the lights on the floor if they’re too bright, and look down. There’s a big stinking wedge of fromage down there. It’s pretty obvious and unmistakable — that’s cheese.
* 6.2: I found a hidden cheese today while playing my brand new copy of Perfect Dark… In Mission 6.2 (Deep Sea- Nullify Threat) right at the beginning of the level if you look to your right and out the windows that look into the ocean floor, you can catch a glimpse of a piece of cheese near the far back wall of rock. You can get an even better look if you go through the first door straight ahead and look to your right again. It just jumped out at me and I couldn’t resist getting on the IGN Cheese List.
* 7: Shoot the Skedar at the beginning, then go through the door right next to him. You’ll be on a balcony overlooking a landing pad. Directly to your right you’ll see a small ramp leading to a shiny door. Go up the ramp, against the door, and turn around. Above the door you just came through and slightly to the left, you should be able to see the cheese in a narrow crack. Just follow your nose; that cheese has been in the sun for awhile. –donor
* 8: This piece of cheese is easily found. Take the elevator down into the Skedar hangar (with or without Elvis) and turn right after the ramp as you enter the hangar. Head back towards the elevators on the wall in front of you and go into the room on your right. As you enter the room, turn left, crouch and look into the hole in the glass portion of the floor. In the back left corner is a lovely piece of Swiss cheese.
* 9: Next to the Shield (only there in A/SA) at the end of dead end tunnel (head the WRONG way at the start).

Do a 540 spin in variations (Ollie 540s, Nollie 540s, Kickflips, Heelflips, et cetera). Doing this will defeat your opponents easily because they won’t even attempt to repeat the hard trick you just did. Easy victory!

Unlockable – Achievements (Expansion Pack)

You Down With E.P.I.C? (30) – Win a multiplayer match of 3+ rounds in any game type on 6 different downloadable maps

Hint – Animation Exploitation
When playing multiplayer on Xbox Live, you may notice when you are using the chainsaw or curb stomping that you cannot be hurt.

In fact, during a curb stomp you can reload your gun. since you cannot take damage while you are stomping someones face this is a very good time to reload, come out of your animation and continue battle.

Unlockable: Secret Gamer Pic

You must finish the game on Insane difficulty.

Hint – New Gamertag Icons
You get unlock three more gamertag icons for your profile by meeting three achievements:

(1) Beat the game on the Insane difficulty level.

(2) Accrue 10,000 kills in ranked multiplayer matches.

(3) Finish any ranked versus match (so don’t drop out even if you’re losing).

Hint – Cluster Kill Achievement
To get the achievement killing three enemies at once ten times, go to the stage Act 3 – Evolution and locate the area of the Imulsion plant where the guy gets killed when he falls through the rotten wood floor.

Take along at least one grenade and simply follow the dead guy down a hole (or any hole, if you step in the wrong spot). Run around the cellar until you think you have enough enemies following (meaning at least three running after you), tag one with a grenade melee attack.

If you die, that’s perfect, since you restart right at the checkpoint of that room and do it again. Achievement progress are independent of game progress. If not, reload the checkpoint and do it again.

Hint – Advantage Co-Op

The best way to defeat General Raam on Insane is to go with co-op. You have twice the smart firepower allowing one person get the Torque Bow and the other the sniper rifle.

The bow carrying player should have at least ten arrows. The Torque Bow is the only weapon other than the grenades that will hurt the boss seriously when he has his Kryll shield. The explosion of the tips will also send the Kryll flying, allowing your partner to get in a nice head shot with the sniper rifle for a good one-two combo.

Hint – Wretched Fun

Wretches are most annoying since they swarm your soldier and kill him almost instantly on medium and hard. The best method to deal with them is with a shotgun or the alien repeater, since those weapons let you slug them without the dangerous downtime of the chainsaw.

The shotgun is the best for the in-close situation, since you can forego the left trigger and hip fire the shotgun quickly to catch the wretches as they hop around. Smacking them if they get close is the only way to counter, short of using A to dodge.
Hint – How To Defeat General Raam
In order to defeat Raam, you need to have grenades and a sniper rifle which is supplied in the center of the room before entering the boss arena.

After entering the arena, stay behind the wall you ended the cut scene with. This is important because you need to maintain your distance from Raam. Also, it helps to command Don to “cease fire.” This will make him run back towards you keeping him alive longer to distract Raam.

The trick is to get Raam’s swarm away from his body. In order to do this, you need to throw a grenade at Raam. If successful, the swarm will disperse giving you clear head shots using the sniper rifle. Repeat until he’s defeated.

If you run out of grenades or simply cannot aim them, just stay in the lighted areas of floor to avoid the Kryll swarm.

If you don’t defeat Raam by the time he reaches your wall cover, move in the opposite direction he does and shoot when the swarm disperses. You will take damage from Raam’s machine gun, but you stay in the light which prevents the swarm from killing you.

Hint – Corpser Corpse

When you are pitted against the Corpser in the Act 3 mines, there’s a quick way to win. The Lancer’s (chainsaw rifle) constant stream of fire makes it the weapon of choice here. Shoot at the belly of the Corpser, working any angle you can between its legs.

If you hit the belly a few times, it will lift it’s front legs and expose it’s face. Immediately fire up at it’s face and chin. It will shriek and move back.

Hurry, move up grab ammo and repeat. If you don’t move fast enough wretches will arrive in waves and make things ten times harder. You must hit the Corpser’s face three times.

You’ll back it up onto a platform with two destructable joints. They’re lit up and on the ground. Shoot them both and the Corpser will plunge into the Imulsion liquid. If you’re quick enough you can kill the corpser before any wretches arrive.

Unlockable: Insane Difficulty

You must finish the game on Casual or Hardcore difficulty.
Hint – Berserker Beat Down (Then Beat Yourself Down)
To defeat the Beserker at the end of act one, simply dive to the side when she charges at you. Run through the doorway to your right and continue to the door at the end of the room and face your back to it. Get the Berserkers attention by shooting at her or revving the chainsaw then, dive away at the last moment when she charges causing her to break the door down for you.

Continue this to get through the next two doors. When you finally lure her into the courtyard simply use the Hammer of Dawn twice to take her down. If Dom is killed the mission is over, so revive him if he’s knocked down.

The second one in Act 4 is defeated similarly. Defeating the second berserker. There are six stone supports for the second part of the greenhouse. Lead the berserker through the six supports, you will see glass dropping from the ceiling. Once all six supports have been taken out, two shots with the Hammer of Dawn will crisp her.

Hint: Quick Reload

When reloading your weapon, watch the upper-right corner of the screen for a meter that counts down. Press the reload button a second time when the meter’s moving bar matches up with the stationary bar. This will give you a super fast reload and put you back in the fight quicker than normal. However, if you mis-time the second button press your reload will take longer than normal.

Hint: Avoiding the Kryll

In the second chapter of the game, you’ll be swarmed by enemy kryll if you so much as set foot in the dark. To avoid being attacked, stay in the light at all times. When there’s no light in sight, look for propane canisters you can blow up to create some flames that’ll scare off the kryll.

Hint: Regain Health

Unlike most games, you can regain all of your health in Gears of War without the need for health packs. Simple stay in cover for a few seconds and watch as the bright-red gear in the center of the screen fades away. When the gear has comlpetely disappears, your health will be completely full.

Hint: Fighting the Wretches

When fighting wretches–the small, shrieking enemies that don’t use weapons–attack with melee strikes. The best melee strikes come from weapons other than your grenades and Lancer chainsaw rifle. The chainsaw attack is too slow to combat the swarming wretches, so stick to quick-hit melee punches for instant kills.

Hint: Finding Cog Tags

There are thirty hidden Cog Tags scattered throughout the game. They’re small and sometimes hard to find, but there’s a a mark you can look out for that’ll make finding the Cog Tags easier. Look for large, red Gear logos pasted on the walls–if you find a room with this large Gear logo, examine the room and you’re sure to find a Cog Tag somewhere.

You can have infinite turns for Magichange for any character by throwing them back in the base panel. This will work even if the character has already attacked.

Throw characters through No Entry panels or tall terrain

As long as the obstacle is only one square thick, you can throw through it. Stand next to it and lift a character, then extend your throw through the obstacle. Retract your throw range (toward the thrower) and press X at the same time. There is a “sweet spot” to do it right, but because there is no penalty to missing it (you just get an error sound) you can keep extending and retracting while mashing X until you throw straight through the obstacle.

Museum bonus level

Successfully complete the game to unlock the Museum bonus level. Go to the single player missions, select the new “Museum” mission at the bottom, and choose a difficulty. When the level begins, it is recommended you first study the layout. Get two weapons, and max out your ammunition through the crates supplied. Go to the desks by the entrance to the rooms. On the desks there is a red bell that is labeled “Don’t Press”. Once you press this button, enemies will begin coming to life in one room area at a time. About thirty people (all characters from the game) will try to kill you. You will hear a sound once that wave is completed. There are two waves of kills needed to complete it. Note: There are three rooms, one of which nothing happens in. Do not bother shooting anyone prior to using the bell, as it will not count.

1. The intel is under the watch tower, straight across from the entrance to the obstacle course.

Act I: Team Player

2. The Intel is in a classroom. Someone will announce “I think I saw one go in that classroom”, and your team will go in. It is on the right wall as you enter, on a desk by the barrels.

3. As you exit the school, it is on a crate directly outside, next to a taxi.

Act I: Cliffhanger

4. Directly in front of you when Soap tells you to go ahead alone is a guard tower. Go up the ladder to find the Intel on the catwalk.

5. When you are about to enter the building with Soap, go to the previous building in the alley where the Jet is inside the hanger. Break out the window to find the Intel inside.

6. During the snowmobile sequence, when you are approximately 1850m from the finish, stop. Look for a small wooden fence surrounding some trees in the middle of the path in front of you, and a small wooden building up a hill to the right.
Act I: Takedown

16. After clearing the small lot (has a bunch of appliances and cars), instead of going right up the stairs between buildings, go left around the three-story house (floors are colored red, yellow, red), and look in the little hut attached to its side to find the Intel on some barrels.

17. As you move up the sloped street, there is a blue car on the right side of the street. In the building on that side is the Intel up on the second floor on the table.

18. When you enter the last open lot and are supposed to go up on the roof, turn to the right, and look in the window behind the goal fence to find the Intel inside a window.

Act III: Contingency

31. When you reach the three-man patrol standing near the fence, kill them, and go over to where they were. The Intel is about ten feet south on a crate.

Hidden sniper positions in “High Rise” mapLook from the center of the map at the cranes, then to the left side of the map. Go that side’s back left corner. Find the broken scaffolding. Sprint from before the ledge, and jump to the left outside yellow vertical railing of the scaffolding. This is a hidden ladder. Climb up this railing/ladder to the top of the scaffolding. Walk to the right of the scaffolding along the ledge of the building. You will eventually reach another scaffolding. Climb onto this scaffolding. Walk to the top. Look towards the building, and climb onto the higher ledge. Follow that ledge going left. Keep moving forward to reach the roof. This is a very good sniper spot. It is recommended you use a Tactical Insertion because other players may discover you on your way to the top, or while you are up there, and try to kill you. There are also a lot of teddy bears on the roof.

Easter Egg: He Sleeps With the Fishes

Get a boat… and go between The “Leaf Links” Golf club and the third island. GO up to the rock and stop your boat get the sniper rifle in the cheat and look down on the rocks you will see a man in boxers with concrete on his feet.

Hint: Easy Crazy Stunt Money

Get a bike and do a wheely. Keep the wheely going until you hit a lamp post or any other pole along the streets. If you crash at the correct angle, you should spin several times, thus gaining 40 to 100 dollars easily.

Hint: Getting the Apache Chopper

For those who want to fly the Apache but don’t want to get all 100 hidden packeges, get a cop uniform from the Washington Beach Police Department. Use any chopper to fly into the army base. Go to the northwest corner to find the Apache. If you don’t have the cop uniform, the soldiers will shoot you out of the sky.

Hint: Faster Reload

To reload your guns more quickly, switch to another weapon and then switch back. Your ammo will be automatically reloaded whenever you switch weapons.

Hint: Easy Money on Stunt Boat Challenge

On the first Umberto Robina mission, get in the boat and then press TRIANGLE to step away from the wheel. Attack Umberto’s henchman, who’s in the boat with you, until he’s on the floor of the boat. Now every time you kick him, you’ll receive the Good Citizen award of $50. Wait until your cash stops adding before kicking him again or it won’t count. (You do not have to wait until the Good Citizen bonus message leaves the screen, however.)

Hint: Airport Shortcut

There’s a shortcut between Little Havana and Escobar Airport in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. On the road beside the cafe, find an ally that goes towards the airport. If you drive down that alley, you can go through the hole in the fence. Now you don’t have to drive around the airport. (This shortcut can be helpful when you need to save time during the paramedic missions.)

Glitch: Drive Through Wall at Stadium

While you are driving any car, go to the stadium. There are two helicopter pads on the north side of the building. There is a wall near them that runs east to west. You can drive through this wall.

Hint: Steal Bulletproof Sabre Turbo

When you are doing the mission, “The Driver,” stay by the Malibu Club until you fail the mission. After you fail it, a Sabre Turbo will be parked by the Malibu. This car is bulletproof and locked, but you can still steal it. Take a car with good ramming power (preferably a Coach) and then push this bulletproof Sabre Turbo into your nearest garage (which should be the one at the Vercetti Estate).

Hint: Scarface Easter Egg

There’s a Scarface easter egg in the form of a bloody bathroom and a chainsaw weapon.

Go to the Pay N’ Spray at Ocean beach, then go south and take the first left. On your left, you’ll see a two story apartment with two sets of stairs on the second floor.

Head up the stairs to the right and you’ll see a black doorway. Check out the bathroom in apartment 3c and compare it to the movie.

Hint: Easier Flight From Justice (Cortez)

Once you reach the final mission for Cortez, it’s a long mission of shooting boats and people, just do this: get 2 cars and park them in the pier next to the one to enter Cortez’s missions, and put them in a way so that its practically impossible to get across through the pier (it’s easier than it sounds), and go do the mission. When you start the mission a cutscene will come that shows a bunch of people trying to come through the pier you blocked, but they can’t. They really would have if not done. Then you can relax on your boatride with Colonel Cortez. There may me a few people at the end but it makes life a whole lot easier since you saved yourself a lot of trouble of killing about fifty to seventy people. —————————————————————————

Hint: “Easter Egg” Easter Egg

Head to the 8-10 VCN Building (the news building) on the west island of Vice City. The news building is by the northern bridge entrance on the west island. You can enter the door of the news building and head up to the roof.

Along with the news chopper, there’s an easter egg you can get to. There’s another buiding close by, but on an angle with the window closest to the edge of the heliport. Make a sprinting jump through the window and you should see an empty room with an easter egg in the middle.

Hint: Super Speed in Tank

Turn the tank’s turrent around so that it faces backwards, and repeatedly fire rounds to send the tank speeding.

Hint: Instant Health Power-up

This trick worked in GTA III as well. Drive up next to a hooker and wait. If you’re driving a swank enough car, she’ll start talking to you. Eventually, she’ll get into the car. At this point, drive to a quiet spot and let the magic happen. The car will start rocking, and your “health” will grow from 100 to 125. Your pocketbook will take a hit though. This health-up only works until the next time you die.

Hint: Run Faster, Longer

To run fast for longer periods of time, tap X repeatedly instead of holding it down. You will run at the same speed as if you were holding the button, but you can do it for a much longer period of time.

Hint: Quick Reload

While holding a weapon, press R2, then L2 quickly (or vice versa) to reload in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Hint: Rob the Bank

After you’ve completed the Malibu mission “The Job”, you can rob El Banco Corrupto Grande for some easy money. Walk in and turn right up the stairs. This will earn you a four star wanted level. Walk into the manager’s office to get 1/3 of the cash. The rest is in the room with the elevator, on the right side. Then jump off the balcony and run out. To shake the cops, you can turn left to the nearby Pay N’ Spray. It’s not much, but it’s easy cash.

Hint: Hidden Package Rewards

Find Hidden Packages in the game to unlock items that will appear in your safehouse (usually the upstairs room in the Ocean View Hotel). Check out the table below to see what unlocks what:

Hint: See the Village People

Go into the Malibu Club and take a gander at the stage. There, you’ll find a reasonable facsimile of the Village People.

Hint: Dial the Numbers

Write down the phone numbers you hear on the radio commercials in the game. They all work! Here’s a list:

1-866-PILLAGE

1-866-9-BURY ME

1-866-9-SAVE ME

1-866-9-SHADEE

1-866-434-SELF

Hint: Restore Health

Go to the hotel’s save point. When the game asks you if you want to save, select a game and click it. When the “Overwrite?” message appears, select “No”, and return to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Hint: Shoot The Moon

The moon changes size when shot at with the Sniper Rifle in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, just like in GTA 3.

Hint: Kill Your Buddies and Steal Their Cash

Once you move into the Starfish Island mansion in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, you will always have a gaggle of goons hanging around your crib. You can milk them for money. And by milk I mean kill. Because they’re your friends, and you’re the boss, none of them will retaliate. Beat them senseless with any available weapon, then grab the cash they drop. It isn’t a lot, but it is easy money.

Hint: UZI Ammo

Here’s an ammo cheat for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Go to the Biker Bar (where you can do missions). Put your back to the front of it and run to your right and around the street corner. Then look to your left. You’ll see a staircase leading up to a rooftop. There is Uzi 9mm ammo underneath it. There is also a shack that you can buy on the top of the roof. You can travel between the save point at the shack and the ammo as many times as you like, as right after you save, there is more ammo there again.
