PS3,Xbox 360 23 January 2011 | 1 Comment

Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for some time now and it now finally has a release date. May 3 is the North American release date. May 6 is worldwide.

“Somehow the guys at Game Informer magazine discovered Duke Nukem Forever’s launch date before I did,” joked Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software and executive producer of Duke Nukem Forever. “But I cannot imagine any better video game news source team than Game Informer to reveal the moment of truth for the most inconceivable, incorrigible and inspiring turn around story in the history of the video game industry – the coming of Duke Nukem Forever on May 3, 2011.”

“The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here,” says Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “May 3, 2011 marks Duke’s return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!”

Gran Turismo 5 Might Be Offering Their Remote Racing Option Very Soon

PS3 17 January 2011 | 0 Comments

Gran Turismo 5 was planning on allowing players control races remotely through the game’s B-spec mode. However, this feature didn’t appear in the boxed version of the game, but creator Kazunori Yamauchi promises the feature will be made available in the near future.

In a Japanese Twitter post, Yamauchi says the mode is coming in early February, but that’s about it. The feature will let you control B-Spec races through your PC or mobile device as long as your console is also on.

Blizzard Comment on World of Warcraft World of Warcraft: Cataclysm’s Dungeons Difficulty

Mac,Online Gaming,PC 13 January 2011 | 1 Comment

A lot of World of Warcraft players have been been complaining that the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm’s dungeons are too difficult. Blizzard has just released a comment defending the difficulty.

On the Battle.net forums, Blizzard’s Greg Street wrote:

The bottom line is that we want Heroics and raids to be challenging, and that is particularly true now while the content is new and characters are still collecting gear. They’re only going to get easier from here on out. We want players to approach an encounter, especially a Heroic encounter, as a puzzle to be solved. We want groups to communicate and strategize. And by extension, we want you to celebrate when you win instead of it being a foregone conclusion.

On the other hand, we don’t want you to stumble your way to victory. We don’t want you to be able to overwhelm bosses without noticing or caring what they’re doing. We don’t want healers to be able to make up for all of the mistakes on the part of the other players. While at the end of the day, dungeons may just be gussied up loot vending machines, we want you to do more than push a button to get the loot.

Ultimately, we don’t want to give undergeared or unorganized groups a near guaranteed chance of success, because then the content will feel absolutely trivial for players in appropriate gear who communicate, cooperate, and strategize.

The Nintendo Wii, The Sega Wee

Gadgets 7 January 2011 | 0 Comments

Who ever said Sega were finished in the console war, they’re only just getting started.

The start of this year saw the new Sega Wee launched in public loo’s all over Japan, the console, which looks just like a urinal is designed to help Japanese Men, and the rest of the world soon enough I hope, enjoy themselves in the toilet a bit more.

The system – which isn’t actually called the Sega Wee, unfortunately, it’s called “Toylet” – comprises of a screen that goes on top of the urinal loaded with four games, and a sensor that goes in the urinal. ”Players” urinate on the sensor, which detects the pressure and angle of the flow.

Games include:

  • ‘Mannekin Pis’, which challenges you to wee as hard as you can.
  • ‘Graffiti Eraser’, which sees players remove paint by weeing on every part of the picture.
  • ‘Milk from Nose’, our favourite. This pits blokes against each other as they try to wee harder than the chap before them. While you’re doing it, for some reason, an on-screen character sprays more milk out of his nose.
  • ‘The North Wind and Her’, as poetic as it sounds, is just a classic case of weeing hard enough to increase the strength of the wind and try and blow a girl’s skirt up)… finally.

Game Price Hikes? Cheers VAT……

PC 4 January 2011 | 0 Comments

GAME has confirmed the overnight VAT increase has led to many of its products seeing price rises across the UK.

A quote from the guys at  trade mag MCV pointed out that despite the increase on most titles GAME remains market-leading still on a number of products.

“We are working hard with our suppliers to minimise the impact of the VAT rise on product prices but from 4 January 2011, customers will see some increase in our in-store and online prices,” their spokesman continues, ”However every week, customers will also see that we have a wide range of special deals and promotions that offer a greater discount than the VAT rise and offer incredible value for our customers. These will continue in 2011 and we are confident that customers will see that we provide value and expertise that they can not find anywhere else.”

The value you will not see elsewhere includes: Halo Reach for just £24.98 and the PS3 version of Fallout: New Vegas for £19.98, both of which GAME says are the cheapest in the UK.

Rises include plenty of games previously priced at £39.99 now costing £40.99 at the retailer across the rack, while the price of a PS3 Move Starter Pack has increased from £49.99 to £52.99.

Xbox 360 hardware including the 250GB pack, last week at £199.99 now at £203.99, 4GB gone from £149.99 up a smidge at £152.99, along with a  250GB Xbox with Kinect was £299.99 has slipped upto £305.99. Only a tiny increase, well 4 more percent anyway, but enough to start putting me off slowly…….

Kintec’s PC Cousin Wavi Xtion?

Mac,PC 4 January 2011 | 0 Comments

The debut of a motion-sensing controller designed for PCs has been announced by PrimeSense, the creator of the Kinect for XBox 360 with the intention of releasing it in February of this year (2011). The company has teamed up with Asus to make the device, which is in turn creating a dedicated online store for selling compatible apps.

The controller goes by the name “WAVI Xtion,” and will enable gesture controls for media center PCs. According to PrimeSense, the focus of the device will be on multimedia control, as opposed to the gaming focus of the Kinect.

There is a definite demand for this type of controller—even without Microsoft’s blessing, many a homebrew developer has adapted his or her Kinect for use with PCs. Given that the WAVI Xtion will be optimized for media rather than game control, it sounds like it’s running the risk of falling short of functionality by comparison, though native PC compatiblity may appeal to a different subset of users.

There is no doubt that the rumour are actually facts, but will it be out on time?
