There has been a long war between Fifa football games and Pro Evolution Soccer games, and now the war moves across to the iPhone. Konami has announced that they will be making Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 available for the iPhone.

Additionally the version that will be introduced to the App Store will be unique i.e. it will not be the console version ported to the iPhone. Konami wanted the App Store game to be unique in its own right. Quality wise, Konami is targeting the visuals of the PSP version. In their own words

“Firstly because we thought graphics on the PSP looked fabulous, secondly because of the iPhone’s processing speed and display capacities being potentially comparable to those of a “small” PSP.”

Simon who works here in our office has just got Fifa 2010 on Xbox 360, and he keeps saying it is the best Football game ever produced. Thus, we had to let everyone know that Fifa 2010 has just been released for the iPhone, iPad and iPods.

The game includes 105 countries. Even if your country does not qualify for the real World Cup, FIFA World Cup lets you simulate a World Cup victory for your country; the “Captain Your Country Mode” in the game lets us do exactly that.

The FIFA World Cup game costs $6.99 and can be found in games in the App Store or by clicking here.

As of March 2010, there were over 25,000 games available to download in Apple’s App Store for the iPod Touch and iPhone. Of course, most of these games aren’t exactly world-class games. However, a few of them are top notch and will provide you with hours upon hours of gaming fun. Here are some of the most addictive games for the iPod Touch.

1. SimCity

The iPod Touch version of this game is packed with a ridiculous amount of detail and quality. Build your town from the ground up, and watch it grow into a technological metropolis. Of course, this doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, extensive planning, and quite a bit of ingenuity. The fun never seems to run out with this game by EA. It costs $4.99.

2. Wolfenstein 3D

The classic first person shooter is available for only $1.99 on your iPod Touch. Although the graphics aren’t as good as the some of the other games on the iPod Touch, this one wins major points for its nostalgia factor. Defend the Allied forces from the evil Nazis.

3. Words With Friends

If you get fired up by a competitive game of wits with your friends, then you won’t be able to stop playing this game. Word With Friends is a Scrabble game that you can either play against a random opponent or against your friends who also have an iPhone or iPod Touch. This Scrabble game is unique because a single game may take days or even weeks. Simply make you move whenever you have time, and you’ll be notified when your opponent has made his move. The full ad-supported version is free, but you can upgrade to the paid version with no ads for $2.99 if you wish.

4. Oregon Trail

The classic game from the 70′s has been fully updated with beautiful graphics and has been brought to the iPod Touch. You must make your way from St. Louis to Oregon while trying to keep your crew from dying of dysentery. Hunt for your food, trade with other travelers, and guide your wagon down the river. It can be found in the App Store for $4.99.

5. Deer Hunter 3D

If you’re a fan of arcade games like Big Buck Hunter, then you’ll love this game. The graphics are superb, and the controls are first-class. You can track deer and game by tracking their footprints, and you can either get in close for the kill or use your scope for a far away shot. It’s available for $5.99.

6. TapDefense

TapDefense is a game in the “tower defense” genre. In these games, you must defend your base against a constant procession of enemies by constructing towers in strategic locations. Your towers will shoot the enemies with arrows, bombs, or ice in an effort to slow them down or kill them. There are a slew of tower defense games, but TapDefense is not only one of the best – it’s also completely free.

Gameloft will be releasing the game and Kotaku reports that the app will consist of a 4 to 5 hour campaign, no word of any multiplayer functionality. While we know this will obviously be a greatly scaled down version in comparison to the title of the same name coming out on Xbox 360, it looks pretty promising with many of the same features. Below are some screenshots of this third person stealth action game that will definitely be one of the best to hit the iPhone, and possibly the iPad.

Namco has announced that the classic arcade fighting game Tekken will be soon available on the iPhone.

So far Capcom’s Street Fighter IV has been the main player in the App Store, until now. I think Tekken will very quickly become the main fighting game in the App Store very quickly.

The only question for now is whether the iPhone version of Tekken be a port of the original game or will be a variant of the PSP version?

Sure it might date me, but I remember vividly the days of dropping in coins, but also the day it came to the console. Street Fighter IV is not only jam packed with new and old favorites, but also intense combo moves and unique game play style that are sure to be a huge success for the franchise.

Those of us who are not console owners will be pleased to know that even with a mobile device we will be able to access the fighting frenzy of Street Fighter IV. It has been announced by Capcom that Street Fighter IV will come to the the iPhone/iTouch for $10. The game is planned for a March release with up to eight playable characters. Included in the game are Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, M. Bison and Street Fighter IV new addition, Abel.

Be on the look out for the portable arcade hit to hit your hands real soon, and if you’d like to share your thoughts on the release, be sure to let us know. We’ll be sure to drop the $10 to do a review when it’s released. Street Fighter fans will definitely rejoice!

A completely legit Sega Genesis emulator for the iPhone and iPod touch has hit the Apple App Store.

Its free with one game (Space Harrier II), but you’ll be able to buy more games within the app for $5.99 and under. Sonic the Hedgehog, Shining Force, Golden Axe and Ecco the Dolphin will be among the first games available.

Sonic the Hedgehog and other Sega games have been available as independent downloads in the App Store for months. The idea here is to bring it all together into one app, making things easier to manage. The app will also give Sega the chance to tempt you into buying more games every time you load up Space Harrier II.

Game emulators allow you to use software intended for another device on your phone. They’ve been popular on personal computers for a very long time, but the questionable legality of the unofficial copies of the games has given Apple pause about allowing these things into the App Store in the past. This Genesis emulator (called Ultimate Genesis) was built by Sega itself, and it will play only games Sega makes available in its store. Sorry, but you won’t be able to import those 1,000 Genesis ROMs you downloaded on your PC or Mac.

I’m a huge Square-Enix fan and have been for a very long time. You can imagine my delight when Square-Enix began developing games for the iPod/iPhone. Most recently I’ve been heavily playing Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes. The game once again shows the innovation and thought put into the game.

The game is a basic tactical RPG, in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics, with a basic storyline of a young hero, Ziggy, on a mission to find his kidnapped brother in a world where robots and cyborgs are oppressing humanity. In his efforts he becomes a “conductor” with the ability to summon warriors called “Tune Troops” into battle. The name “Tune Troops” stems from the process of creating troops which relies heavily on the type of music you have on your mobile device. This is innovative because all users will have different playlists, different styles, and different genres of music that can help to create over 50 types of troops falling into Soldier, Mage, Archer, Knight and Monk categories.

Based on the type of song, the artist, and the number of times you’ve listened to it, your troops stats are created and the character class is determined. This can create a different gaming experience every time you play. The game is displayed in an over world map view as you move from mission to mission, and eventually opens up to battlefields where chess like fighting-styles play out.

I highly recommend if you’re a fan of RPG games that you give this game a look. Unfortunately the game price is pretty steep, sitting at $9.99, but so far the game has returned hours of value and character creation. The game is made even more interesting since “Tune Troops” can only be called into battle a certain number of times before disappearing, forcing the player to juggle their resources effectively.

“Chinatown Wars is a perfect match for the iPhone and iPod touch,” stated Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser. “We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple’s new gaming platforms.”

This means that you will be able to jack cars with consistency on your iPhone or iPod Touch very soon. This just proves how popular the App store is becoming, and what a great gaming platform the iphone is.

Tapulous the iPhone game developer is just about to release their new Tap Tap Revenge version 3. The game, which is best described as a “Guitar Hero for the iPhone”, will feature in-game song purchases, which were finally enabled with the release of the iPhone 3.0 software update in June.

Currently Tap Tap Revenue 1 and 2 are some of the most popular iphone games and this new in-game song purchases will provide a much need new revenue stream for Tapulous.

On console games like Rock Band, in-game purchases have proven very lucrative with gamers regularly plopping down around $2 per song. But the iPhone didn’t allow for this kind of transaction until recently, so Tapulous was forced to sell satellite games like TTR Weezer and TTR Coldplay, which did well but never saw nearly the usage of the main TTR app.

Personally I love point and click games, I always have. Although I’ve been lucky to get the Monkey islands and not the Simon the Sorcerers. I suspect not everyone has been as fortunate as me and as we should know, it only takes one horrible game to sully the rest. This may go some way to explaining why the genre has spent the last ten or so years drifting in and out of coma, spouting coherent speech only once a year or so before receding back to its silent torpor.

I have a theory, it’s a little weird but hear me out. The genre of Point and Click has not been on the brink of death all these years, no, nor is it past it prime. What it has actually been doing is been playing dead. You see, for almost a decade every game producer and designer had been pushing the limits of what hardware can accomplish.

With the introduction of the 3rd generation consoles game makers have been trying there utmost to use every drop of power available from these machines. In times like these Point and Click games can seem out of date and inadequate so as a genre they lay down and kept very still.

Now that the dust has settled on the war torn desolate land of gaming, point and click games can look around and see that there brothers have made it in the new world, that Despite the violent RPSs, the calculating RTSs or the soul draining MMPORPGs there is is still a place for Point & Clicks in this wasteland.

There survival was not without help. With the introduction of episodic gaming geared at a more casual appeal TellTale Games started releasing the new Sam and Max games. At the success for them more followed leading up to the recent release of Monkey Island made with conjunction of Lucasarts, and at the same time the original Monkey island was remastered reminding us of the golden age of point and click.

So i come to my point, because gaming isn’t a barren wasteland where only the worthy survive, no it’s a business like any other and we must face some harsh truths. Without the interest and support of gamers this genre will die because these large companies will not invest into these games when there is no reward it. But I’m happy to say someone else has dipped there toes into the pool of Point and Click and the remaking a classic.

Beneath a Steel Sky is now getting the Monkey Island treatment with a new facelift including fully animated cut scenes created by renowned comic book artist Dave Gibbons. This was an excellent game when it came out and can’t think of a game more deserving of renovation. for those of you who missed out on this last time heres some info.

Very few Point and Click games can stand up to the Monkey Islands and Grim Fandangos that Lucasarts made so well. This was one of them. Set in a dystopian future in a technological wonder of Union-City. You take charge Robert Foster, who was found in the Gap (that being the Australian outback not a clothing store). Along with Joey his robot friend he travels Union City generally trying to figure the mystery around. I don’t want to give the plot away since this one carrys it off very well, and despite its gloomy and serious nature its is still filled with warm characters and great humour. If your a fan of point and clicks the only way to keep them alive is to support them. Unfortunately this is only being released for the iPhone and iPod touch but it is a step in the right direction and I expect if this does well we’ll get to see more like this in the future.

Well here’s a look at the original intro.
