Who ever said Sega were finished in the console war, they’re only just getting started.

The start of this year saw the new Sega Wee launched in public loo’s all over Japan, the console, which looks just like a urinal is designed to help Japanese Men, and the rest of the world soon enough I hope, enjoy themselves in the toilet a bit more.

The system – which isn’t actually called the Sega Wee, unfortunately, it’s called “Toylet” – comprises of a screen that goes on top of the urinal loaded with four games, and a sensor that goes in the urinal. ”Players” urinate on the sensor, which detects the pressure and angle of the flow.

Games include:

‘Mannekin Pis’, which challenges you to wee as hard as you can.

‘Graffiti Eraser’, which sees players remove paint by weeing on every part of the picture.

‘Milk from Nose’, our favourite. This pits blokes against each other as they try to wee harder than the chap before them. While you’re doing it, for some reason, an on-screen character sprays more milk out of his nose.

‘The North Wind and Her’, as poetic as it sounds, is just a classic case of weeing hard enough to increase the strength of the wind and try and blow a girl’s skirt up)… finally.

Panasonic are trying to focus on online gaming and they are entering the market with a new portable gaming console, The Jungle. The Jungle is the first of many devices Panasonic are going to bring to market, I just hope the other devices have better names!

If you want more information on The Jungle head to http://welcometo.thejungle.com.

Here is the key info:

“The Jungle” is the name of the handset, but it’s also the brand for a few things it encompasses, including video content creation (they’ve partnered with Machinima.com to make a new weekly show called Online Underground) and working with third party developers.

If the renders we’re seeing hold true, The Jungle device will be a clamshell, with a display on the top half, and a touchpad, keyboard, and what looks like dual touch-sensitive D-pads (or just comically huge speakers) on the bottom.

Their focus here is online gaming and “content in the cloud”. The only game we’ve got confirmation for so far: Battlestar Galactica Online. BSG:Online is made by Bigpoint, who generally makes Flash-based online games for the browser. Read into that as you will.

It might be Android-powered , as suggested by this job posting from PCENT looking for an Embedded Software Engineer for Android. If the Jungle is Android-based, it’ll almost certainly be heavily modified/skinned beyond recognition.(Update: Nope, just heard that it’s not Android-powered. Linux, maybe. Android, no. Bummer!)

If you take a close look at the ports down at the bottom, it looks like this things got a 3.5mm jack, a micro-USB port, a mini HDMI port and.. other unidentifiable things. Whats that on the far left side there, opposite of what looks like a volume rocker? SD slot?

Unless our sense-of-scale is totally off, this thing is going to be pretty big. Physically, that is.

Im quite a big fan of Halo so this was a vital bit of news! This Xbox 360 casemod features Halo protagonist Master Chief blasting a hole through the system with his battle rifle, and it needs to be on my mantlepiece now.

Theoretically, this could happen, because the Australia and New Zealand Xbox Team is selling this one-off on eBay to raise funds for the David Peachey Foundation. Microsoft has promised to match the winning bid and donate a further $10,000 to Cure Kids. The current highest bid is still an affordable AU$750, but expect that to rocket over the remaining two days.

You can check out the eBay auction here.

These days it seems like video games are trying to become more like real life and vice versa. One area in which video games are trying to become much more like real life is in the flight simulator market. We have come across a new flight controller that hopes to become must have accessory for the Xbox 360.

The F.L.Y 9 flightstick for the Xbox 360 just looks amazing. Just seeing all those buttons up top makes me remember how much better it feels to launch a rocket with a joystick. One of the best features about the F.L.Y joystick is that it is entirely wireless.

The F.L.Y. lands in spring for $100 which, while expensive, is around what something like Microsoft’s old Sidewinder line of joysticks for the PC would have cost you.

Featuring a 2000mAh battery for extra power, an LED to display charging and capacity, start/select buttons, built-in stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an omni-directional microphone.

We don’t have a release date yet, but you can expect it by the end of the year. 22moo has released developer tools to make games compatible with the accessory.

This Xbox 360/laptop mod is the work of modder TheTwoJ and his friend, who spent over $2000 and 650 hours building it.

It contains a Xbox 360 Elite Jasper, and it’s wired up to a widescreen 17″ LCD monitor. There’s an integrated Xbox wireless adapter and a 120GB hard drive in there, a built-in Xbox Live Camera in the lid, and connections that will let you hook this up to a bigger screen, even though that would be utterly pointless.

It’s on Ebay now, with a mere $1,950 highest bid.

Sony’s VP of Realistic Movements Kevin Butler is at it again, this time in a video ad for the PlayStation Move. He’s back from the future to thank us all for the success of the motion control device, and make a few jabs towards Nintendo and Microsoft for their efforts. Here’s a few choice quotes.

“Because real boxers don’t hit like this [flails arms exasperatingly]“

“It’s also got what we in the future call buttons, which turn out to be pretty important to those handful of millions of people who enjoy playing shooters, platformers, well, anything that doesn’t involve catching a big red ball.”

“C’mon, who wants to pretend their hand is a gun. What is this, third grade? Pew, pew, pew.”

Sony has been trying to come up with a motion device that will rival the Wii and Microsoft Natal, but Im not sure the Playstation Move is going to work.

Sony have just announced the official name for its new Playstation 3 motion controller: Playstation Move. Representatives from the company are giving a demonstration of PS Move’s capabilities at the Game Developers Conference as I type, and have already revealed that Move will come in at “under $100.” The controller works in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye, so you’ll get one of those as well for your greenbacks, along with a Move-compatible game to try.

Sony has claimed that Move is “revolutionary and a step ahead of anything currently on the marketplace.” Unlike Nintendo’s Wii Remote (which has undoubtedly inspired Sony to give motion-sensing games a go), the Move system acts “not simply as a pointer, [but as] an extension of your body.”

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Sony could be at work on a smart phone that can download and play PlayStation games.

Citing “people familiar with the matter”, the report goes on to claim that the company is also working on a new iPad like device that “blurs the distinctions among a netbook, an e-reader and a PlayStation Portable.”

These are part of a line up gadgets designed to topple Apple’s dominance of the portable devices market. Both devices are expected to work with Sony’s new online media platform, which serves as its own version of iTunes and launches later this month.

Toy customizer Donald Kennedy aka KodyKoala made this Mario Mech out of a Merio vinyl figure, a Mario Keychain, and some parts taken from a toy mech from that Avatar movie. The dirty brushed metallic finish is awesome and the bolts are a great touch. Hopefully he does some more Nintendo mechs. Donky Kong, anyone?

About the piece, KodyKoala says:

This was something that my brother and I have been talking about for a while. We thought it would be cool to have Nintendo characters drive a mech of the themselves. This is the first of a series. I love the way this came out, and it is pretty self explanatory how it is made, except for the cockpit, which I got from and Avatar Mech Amp Suit. I am also trying a cool new background as well as better lighting, so the pictures come out crisper.

PC World reports that Microsoft is set to release a new add-on HDD for the Xbox 360 in Japan that has 250GB of storage space. The drive will also be offered in a stand-alone version as well. The new drive has previously been offered only in a bundle with a new console.

The 250GB HDD will be available starting on March 11 for the equivalent of $172. According to Microsoft, there is no plan to offer the stand-alone drive outside of Japan. I wonder if that means we could see the add-on version in outer countries.

There are already some mods for using real drum sets with Rock Band and Guitar Hero, but this new mod which is the Omega GM-1. This new drum set is the first off the shelf option for Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Available on its own or bundled with a Pearl drum set, the system packs individual sensors that detect each drum hit with “speed and accuracy” and, most importantly for those not playing, support for mesh heads and a dampening system for the cymbals — of course, if you opt for the drum set package, you’ll also get some real drum heads. Omega is even going so far as to promote the system as an ideal way to learn to play the drums and, conversely, says that non-gamer musicians that tried it were able to start playing songs with ease immediately.

Pricing starts from $249.

However, this year why not buy some new ornaments that will definitely stand out on the tree.

These have been designed by Dave Rollins, are made of acrylic, and are going for the entirely reasonable price of $20. The only downside? No Wavebird.

Anyone interested, you can get ‘em from Etsy.
