Unlockable: Characters

Perform the actions below to unlock the desired character(s). Note: You can unlock characters on any difficulty, so set the difficulty to “Easiest,” set rounds to “1″ and set time to “99″ if you are having problems.

* Cammy – Beat Arcade Mode with Crimson Viper.
* Fei Long – Beat Arcade Mode with Abel.
* Rose – Beat Arcade Mode with M. Bison (Dictator).
Do not lose a round. After defeating Seth, Akuma will challenge you. Defeat him to unlock Akuma.
* Gouken – Complete arcade mode as Akuma and then play arcade mode again as a character who’s already completed arcade mode. If you’ve got fights set to three round matches, you need at least two perfects, five super or ultra combo finishes, and ten first attacks. After defeating Seth, Gouken will challenge you. Defeat him to unlock Gouken.
* Seth – Clear arcade mode with all 24 of the other characters (including Akuma and Gouken). If you managed to unlock Seth with different criteria, it might be a bug (but the unlock is still valid for your profile).

Hint: Spear & Axe Reclamation

When countering enemies with the axe or spear, Ezio will lose the weapon as it will be impaled or buried in the target.

You can easily reclaim the weapon by picking up the corpse and dropping it. The weapon embedded in the dead body will pop back out for re-use.
Easter Egg: Super Mario Bros. Reference

At the beginning Sequence 3, the character Mario exclaims “Itsa me, Mario!” A clear reference to the 52nd Governor of New York, Mario Cuomo. Or Super Mario. Your call!

Unlockable: Abilities

The following items can be unlocked by performing the actions below:

* Climb Leap Ability – Complete Rosa’s mission “Monkey See, Monkey Do” in Sequence 7 to earn the climb leap ability. With this ability, you can make longer jumps while climbing, letting you grab hand holds that’d normally be out of reach.
* Disarm Combat Technique – Complete Mario’s “Evasive Maneuvers” mission in Sequence 5 to unlock the disarm technique. Disarms let you counter incoming attacks from weapons that are normally too heavy to counter (like axes).

Easter Egg: From the Deep

In Santa Maria Delle Visitazione, in the Assassin’s Tomb, you’ll come across a large flooded room just before one of the Armor of Altair seals. Pull the lever and peer into the water. Wait a minute or so and you’ll see a shadow below. Pull the lever again and peer into the murky depths once more and a tentacle will reach out to grab (and miss) Ezio.

Hint: Lower Your Notoriety

If you’re close to getting a “Notorious” rating, go to a Herald and bribe him. After you bribe him just steal the money back.

Unlockable: Equipment

The following items can be unlocked by performing the actions below:

* Condottiero War Hammer – Collect 50 hidden feathers and the Condottiero War Hammer will become available in the blacksmith’s shop in the Villa Monteriggioni.
* Auditore Cape – Collect 100 hidden feathers and then talk to Mario in the Villa Monteriggioni. He’ll award you the Auditore Cape.

Hint: Free Medicines and Throwing Knives

If you’ve got room in your inventory for more medicines or throwing knives, loot dead bodies and you’ll occasionally find these items for free.

“Ben 10: Protector of Earth” is a PSP game from 2007. You take control of Ben, the main character of the popular animated series “Ben 10.” You get to change into aliens using a device called the “Omnitrix.” Changing into aliens grants you their special abilities, such as being able to use fire, throw crystal shards or run incredibly fast, which will help you take down the evil aliens trying to attack you and destroy the earth. There are cheats in this game that you can easily access.

Setup

Press “Start” while choosing your mission. From the menu that pops up, click “Extras” and then “Enter Secret Code.” You will then be able to enter a password that involves using the aliens from the game and show. If you’re not familiar with the aliens, you will see their names when choosing from this menu.

Master Control

Enter “Cannonbolt,” “Heatblast,” “Wildvine” and “4Arms” to give you master control of the “Omnitrix.” Normally, when you transform, your “Omnitrix” energy will go down. Or, if you quickly go back to human, you will have to wait for the “Omnitrix” to recharge before being able to transform again. Now, it will have infinite energy, so you can stay transformed as long as you want.

All Map Locations

Enter “Heatblast,” “XLR8,” “XLR8″ and “Cannonbolt.” This will instantly unlock all of the locations on the map, so you can go to any mission as soon as you start the game.

All Combos

Enter “Cannonbolt,” “Heatblast,” “4Arms” and “Heatblast” to give you all of the special combos which are devastating and powerful attacks. Normally, you have to spend points you get at the end of the stage to learn combos. Now, you will have all of them.

Dark Heroes

Enter “Cannonbolt,” “Cannonbolt,” “4Arms” and “Heatblast” to make all of the aliens you transform into a dark color. Enter the code again to disable it.

Invincibility

Enter “XLR8,” “Heatblast,” “Wildvine” and “4Arms” to make you invincible, so you will not lose any health when being attacked by enemies.

Unlock All Aliens

Enter “Wildvine,” “4Arms,” “Heatblast” and “Wildvine.” When you start the game, you only have the two aliens “Heatblast” and “4Arms.” When you beat bosses and progress through the story, you gain the other eight aliens into which you can transform. With this cheat, you instantly have all the aliens.

DNA Force

Enter “Wildvine,” “4Arms,” “Heatblast” and “Cannonbolt” to give you a translucent color. You can disable this by entering the code again.

Cheat: Easy Bonus Team Photo Challenge

A simple way to beat the Bonus Team Photo Challenge is to stand on the ledge above where the sponsor is supposed to handplant. Once you get up there, wait for him to approach the launch ramp and do a flip trick off the ledge just as he handplants.

Unlockable: Hideki Tower Spawn Point

Beat about 3/4 of the Thrasher Hall of Meat Challenges to unlock a spawn point atop Hideki Tower.

Cheat: Easy Jam with Danny Way Pro Challenge

For Jam with Danny Way, you can curtail the competition by dragging a roadblock object in front of Danny’s path down the ramp. Just hop off your board and grab a roadblock from the top area and drag it over before starting the challenge. Don’t block your own route down (although there are multiple starting ramps, Way uses only one).

Cheat: Eject! Version 2.0

This version of the automatic bail is much harder to pull off, but you do go higher and thus it is more effective for Thrasher Hall of Meat Challenges if you can get it down. First, press the Left Trigger very lightly to crouch all the way down, but not touch your board. Coast while crouching and quickly tap the combo for a No Comply (push with your back foot and flick an ollie — it’s in your trick book, and it matters which foot is forward!). This must be done on flat ground. If you do this right you should spring off your board and catch some serious air.

Unlockable: Dyrdek’s Fantasy Plaza Pack Secret Achievements

Skylight Superstar (25 points): Find the square of grind-able yellow bars around a hole during the first Film Challenge. Get off your board and jump down through this hole, a skylight in the building’s roof.

No Hard Hats Required (25 points): After a film challenge you’ll be near two industrial popes — well, one-and-a-half, really. The top of the complete pipe is your goal. Use your Eject! Auto-bail; glitch skills to get up here. First, align yourself with the pipe standing between the two. Now, use the glitch to fly on top. Recover safely on the pipe to get the Achievement. Alternately, you can pump the pipe until you loop it

Unlockable: Secret Achievement

Do 5000 Mongo Pushes (front-foot pushes) to unlock the Mongo Pusher Achievement.

Easter Egg: 3D Mode

To switch the game into 3D mode (requires 3D glasses), enter this (case sensitive) code in the Extras menu: strangeloops

Cheat: Easy BLAOW! Hip to Hip Transfer

For the tricky hip transfer there’s no need to play by the rules. Skate to the corner that you first have to launch off of for the transfer. Set your Session Marker and push once towards the middle of the opening of the marked corner. If you go too fast you will bail. Get off your board when you get to that corner opening, but make sure to NOT touch where the transfer begins. Walk across the pool towards where your supposed to land the transfer. Jump once (not on your board) then jump one more time getting on your skateboard in mid air, landing on the bottom wall of where you have to land the transfer. This should highlight the transfer requirement on the list. Grind the siding to complete the challenge.

Cheat: Eject!

Note: You may be able to do this while still, but we were best able to pull this off while slowly moving. First, you must be on flat ground. Hop off your board with Y then quickly hop back in so it’s all in one motion. But just as you feet near the board, hold Y + B + Right Trigger + Left Trigger. You may need to practice this to understand the timing. This will launch you skater about 50 feet skyward, immensely lengthening your air time when trying to bail and giving you more points for Thrasher Hall of Meat Challenges.

Unlockable: Places

Unlock the following places on the Challenge Map by performing the actions listed below:

* Training Park – Beat all of all Team Film Challenges
* S.V. Dam – Beat all of the Thrasher Mag challenges to drain
* S.V. Summit – Beat all of the Death Races to unlock the northernmost spawn point
* GvR Plaza – Beat all of the Street Challenges to unlock the etnies GvR Plaza.
* S.V. Stadium (Mega-Ramp) – Complete all of the Tranny Contests
* Monster Clubhouse – Beat the Raising Coin Demo and purchase for $200,000

EA Black Box

Hint: Skitching

Cars go about twice as fast as you can push yourself on flat ground, so there are advantages to grabbing on to them when you get a chance. It is a good way to get an extra boost during a race, find some extra speed for a big gap, escape a chase or just another way to get around New San Vanelona.

Press and hold the ‘world grab’ button (same button for handplants and grabbing objects) to hitch a ride onto the back bumper of cars. You can grab onto them at a stop light or a stop sign or cars will also slow down when you swing in behind them (while holding down the world grab button) when you have some speed.

Once you grab on, the cars will start to speed. However, they still have to obey the rules of the road and they might get stuck behind a slower car ahead or stop at a light. So, keep your eyes on what is happening ahead and be ready to let go. When you let go from the side, hanging on with one hand, you pull yourself forward for an extra boost. Make McFly proud and watch for sports cars, they drive faster.

Unlockable: Reg’s Mini-Ramp

Slappy bought the old Reg’s mini-ramp, tweaked it a bit and hid it near his shop. Complete all of the Thrasher and Skateboard Mag Challenges, Death Races, Demos and Tranny and Street Contests (everything but the Pro and Bonus stuff) and Slappy will give you the keys to the Reg’s mini-ramp. It’s right behind the drop in to the park, where you start the game. Go into this warehouse area and move some dumpsters to get to it. It’s a small bowl / pool area, not really a ramp.

Unlockable: Big Black in Freeskate and Party Play

To unlock Big Black for Freeskate and Party Play, enter this code at the in-game cheat menu: letsdowork.

Hint: On Top of the World Achievement

First, you must unlock SV Peak via completing all the K.O.T.M. Death Race Challenges. Now, teleport to that location and find the shack with the quarter-pipe in it. Set up the ramp in an open area. Push up to this ramp and do a handplant invert to unlock the Achievement.

Cheat: Alien Manual Shop Easy Victory

The Alien Manual Shop Pro Challenge is one of the game’s most difficult challenges — especially for people with overstressed thumbs. The good news is that you won’t need to do any touchy manuals at all for this Challenge if you don’t want to. Instead, get off your board and hop onto the first planter. Run across the planter and hop up the step, then off the other side. Stand still and get on your board again. This will activate the first bullet point of your challenge. Now, get off your board and hop onto the next planter. Hop across the gap between the planters. Run across the last section of planter and hop off. Stand still and get back on your board to inexplicably finish the challenge. Note for non-cheaters: If you want to take the challenge on without cheating, try coming at it backwards so you can just manual down the little step without bothering with an ollie. The gap… well that’s a different story. But still, hit it backwards.

Cheat: Easy Throwdown Victory

First, find the “boob” used in the Throwdown in Lighthouse Park. You can head west, out the park gate, to find a big blue bench. Drag it over and place it lengthwise and so it’s not in your own way. Now activate the Throwdown and choose the other skaters. Choose the Lighthouse for your venue and each opponent will glitch out and bail due to the foreign object. Complete this list for a Trophy / Achievement. Note: to beat Pros at a Throwdown without cheating, try doing double or triple kickflips. They cannot copy them.

Cheat: Easy Dunk Slam Challenge

Here’s the thing: you don’t need to touch the backboard, you just need to plant in front of it. The key to this is a broken picnic table on the upper level of the area, to the right of where you spawn. Drag this down to the hoop, and drag one of those quarter pipes on top of it. These two things stack to make a hand plant spot on the lip of the elevated half pipe that’s high enough to glitch out the photo. Put the table under the hoop, touching the pole of the hoop, making the first part of a two part ramp. Inch the quarter-pipe ramp up on top of this, far enough up the table so it just clears the bottom of the hoop — and so your skater won’t hit it. Now, back up about 3 pushes, go straight up your double decker ramp and handplant it — you seem to need to tweak the handplant to get this challenge to complete.

Cheat: Can You Spell Girl? Glitch Trick

While S.K.A.T.E. is a gentleman’s game, there’s an exploit that you can use if you are tearing your hair out for the incredibly difficult Can You Spell Girl? Pro Challenge — and yes, it’s cheating. First, though, start the challenge and quit out. Now, make sure you haven’t moved the two items involved in the challenge: the ramp and the rail. Go reset both of these if they’ve been moved, or for good measure. Now you’ll need another rail like the one in the challenge setup. It must be from far away to work, you can’t use the nearby one at the bottom of the spillway, so you have some dragging to do. Go up the spillway tubes and ramps until you find the rail way up the hill past the overhanging bridge area. Pull that back and BE SURE NOT TO TOUCH THE CHALLENGE OBJECTS WITH IT. Pull it in between the picnic table ramp and the rail so it’s parallel with the challenge’s rail. Leave it and start the match. Now, the first trick will occur and it will seem like nothing’s changed. But the second fellow will bail after jumping awkwardly and — lo and behold — your grind rail has appeared! Yes, they will keep bailing. So big ollies, adding some spin and so forth will get you a victory. Finally, be sure to hit QUIT instead of RETRY if given the option — this is a byproduct of the glitch. You will still complete the challenge if you choose QUIT.

Unlockable: Crowns

To attain the desired crown, perform the actions listed below:

* Legend – Reach Legend status online
* King of the Mountain – Beat every Race Challenge in Career Mode

Hint: Easy S.K.A.T.E. Win

Just like in the first Skate, adding 540 degrees of spin will overwhelm the simple computer characters’ programs. They either won’t try the move, or they will bail. Remember to push both analog sticks in the direction of your spin to spin faster. Honestly, they’ll usually bail on a 360 spin move too, so as long as you’re spinning, you’re winning!

If you can’t get the height needed for a 540 spin, triple flips will also trip up your computer opponents. These require you to flick and hold a kickflip, allowing the board to spin multiple times before you land.

Also, adding a footplant upon landing, then continuing to spin will cause the spin to add up. Spin 360 degrees, footplant, and spin 180 degrees and you’ll have an unstoppable 540.

Hint: Easy Money

At the start of a race you are given the option to make a wager on the results. Crank this amount up to the maximum amount and begin the race. If you are doing poorly, pause it and restart. If you know you will win, cross the finish line and collect your winnings.

Unlockable: Dem Bones

Complete the finall Hall of Meat Challenge to unlock your old friend Dem Bones, an animated skeleton.

Unlockable: etnies Skatepark

Win first place in all the Street Contests to unlock the etnies Skatepark.

Unlockable: Lindley Tower Spawn Point

After beat the first several Hall of Meat challenges, you will unlock a spawn point called “Lindley Tower” on your map. Go hear to do some serious damage to your body. Until then, check out the SV Dam, unlocked after finishing all Thrasher challenges. It’s quite a drop!

Cheat: Change Clothing Color for Free

New T-shirts, Hoodies etc. cost cold, hard cash; so if you want to roll in certain colors it will cost you. To change your clothing’s color free of charge, press pause and go to “Edit Skater.” Buy a clothing item and leave the store. Now return to the store and select “Custom T-shirt.” Select a color but instead of checking out, choose “Remove Item” on your receipt to remove the Custom T-shirt. Now, go back to the store (don’t exit) and you can still change the color of what you are wearing.

Unlockable: Spots for Freeskate and Party Play

“Kill” a spot (beat the second point requirement) after discovering it in Campaign Mode to unlock it for Freeplay and Party Play. There are 22 spots to unlock.

Hint: Zombies Can’t Touch This!

When ever you’re near a ReDead or other assorted undead enemy, if you start charging up an attack with your sword you won’t believe what happens! The ReDeads (or other) will not chase after you! If they are already going after you, they will just keep walking in that direction, unable to see or hurt you.

Hint: Big Poe Locations

This is the weird Ghost Shop guy’s quest. He says that once you get a 1000 points on your card, you’ll be a happy man. Each Big Poe is worth 100 points, and can be found only in Hyrule Field on horseback.

Some are harder than others, and sometimes you may have to ride through these locations at different angles a few times so you can get your shots off to off them.

You can walk around Hyrule Field and find the locations definitely, but the Poe you encounter on foot will not be Big Poe and will not earn you points.

1. At the sign from Hyrule Castle directing you to Lon Lon Ranch.

2. Near the lone tree just outside of the entrance to Lon Lon Ranch.

3. Exit Hyrule Castle and go to the right near the stream, where all of the black bushes are.

4. Exit Kakariko Village and go near the ledge to the right.

5. The Place where the stone wall turns. Go to the left of Lon Lon Ranch if coming from Hyrule Castle.

6. The boulder where the road splits, between Lon Lon Ranch and the Lost Woods.

7. At a patch of grass along the path from location 6. Pass the boulder going straight from Lost Woods. It is between the lone green tree and the small grove.

8. In the grove of trees described in location 7 but slightly to the right exiting Lake Hylia.

9. The place where the road splits outside of the entrance to Gerudo Valley.

10. The only tree near the entrance to Gerudo Valley and below the ledge.

I hope this helps anyone else who had trouble or hsan’t had the chance to have trouble with this particular mission.

Eva

Hint: Heart Pieces with the Boomerang

You can use the Boomerang to get two Heart Pieces that seem to only be available much later. The first one is near the entrance to Zora’s Domain, sitting pretty on an unreachable ledge (note that this is the one RIGHT near the waterfall – the one further down the river can be reached by using the Cucco to fly across the gap). Once you’ve gotten the Boomerang, stand on the ledge opposite the Heart Piece and aim carefully. A few tries should snag it. It will probably drop off of your Boomerang and into the water below, near the ladder, where you can retrieve it.

The second Heart Piece is the one in Kakariko Village’s windmill. This one is simple to get with the Boomerang – there’s no need to wait until you come back as Adult Link and get the Hookshot!

You can also get that Heart Piece above Dodongo’s Cavern as Young Link, rather than waiting to use a bean platform. Go to the place where the Bomb Flower grows, near the entrance to the Goron city; pick the bomb flower and chuck it, and then quickly do a back flip over the low part of the fence that the bomb flower was blocking. If you do it correctly (aiming yourself a bit to the left of the screen), you’ll land on the ledge.

Hint: Day Time Dog

First get the sun song, then go to the town with the temple of time, next walk up to a dog so it follows you then play the sun song. The dog will follow you until you leave town!

Hint: Get Mask of Truth

Follow these steps as a kid to gain the Mask of Truth which allows you to talk to the gossip stones. 1. Sell the Keaton Mask to the guard at the foot of Death Mountain. 2. Sell the Skull Mask to the Skull Kid in the Lost Woods. 3. Sell the Spooky Mask to the young boy who plays in Kakariko Graveyard. 4. Finally, Sell the Bunny Hood to the Marathon Runner in Hyrule Field. Make sure you have an empty Giant’s Wallet! Now return to the Happy Mask Shop and the Shopkeeper will let you borrow ANY mask for FREE! Note: If you return to the shop without any ruppees, the guy’s eyes glow red!

Hint: Zora Kisses

As adult Link, earn enough money to buy the Zora Tunic (you must not have it already). Then, go to King Zora, melt off the red ice and he’ll offer you a Zora Tunic. Since you already have it he’ll offer you a big kiss instead.

Hint: Rupees From Light Arrows

If you kill any enemy with nothing but light arrows, when they burn up, they leave behind a purple rupee, worth 50 green rupees.

Hint: Magic Spell Locations

Din’s Fire: After collecting some bombs, go to the castle as a child and blow up the rock past the gate.

Farore’s Wind: At the location of Lord Jabu Jabu, go to the right of his platform and swim towards the wall. Use a bomb on one of the rocks.

Nayru’s Love: Outside of the Spirit Temple, use a bomb on the crack on the walls somewhere nearby in the desert.

Hint: Beat Shadow Link Easily

Use Din’s Fire to damage Shadow Link easily.

Hint: Sinker Lure

At the fishing pond, go to the big rock near the large crack in the wall. Run to the corner to find a sinker lure. You can try using it to catch the black eel swimming around in the deepest parts of the pond.

Hint: Beat the Shadow Temple Mini Boss

To beat the mini boss in the Shadow Temple ( the one where hands grap you and hold you in place until it bites you ), all you have to do is use your lense of truth. When using it, look for a shadow on the ground. When you see it, put a bomb on it. The boss will then come up out of the ground and you won’t be hurt.

Hint: Chicken Attack

Any fan of the old Zelda games will have figured this one out already:

Attack a chicken repeatedly with your sword and it will call for backup. Soon, tons of chickens will flap around on screen, trying to give Link that same fuzzy “Birds” feeling as in Hitchcock’s famous movie.

Simply leave the room or area to stop the chicken attack.

Hint: Creating Music with the Ocarina

You can get even more detailed in the music you play with the ocarina with these extra tips. To play flat notes, hold Z while playing a note. To play sharp notes, hold R while playing a note. To vary the pitch on a note, use the Control Stick. Try it out and compose your own masterpieces!

Hint: End Game Song

At the VERY end of the game, after the entire ending, when it says “The End” and freezes the frame, if you leave it on for awhile, it’ll start playing the song you made up for the scarecrow. Wait another minute or so and it’ll play it again in a different octave or different instrument. It does this about 4-6 times and then stops. No biggie, just another little “easter egg” Miyamoto dropped in there.

Hint: Barbecued Link

Play through your game as normal until Ganon, the final boss. After you have knocked Ganon down the first time, retreive the master sword. Get the master sword from Zelda but instead of going back to face Ganon, go the opposite way and move away from Ganon. There should be a piece of land that is near Zelda which juts away from the floating arena. Move back in it until you hit an invisible wall. Turn around in place until you are facing Ganon and equip your bow and arrow. Aim carefully and fire an arrow at Ganon’s tail. If the trick worked Ganon should get up and Link should be engulfed in flames.

Hint: Beat Queen Gohama easily

When Queen Gohama climbs up on the wall and on to the roof and tries to lay eggs you can hit her in the eye with the sling shot and she will fall and be paralyzed and ready to hit.

Hint: Easy Way to Beat Mirror Link

If you use the Megaton Hammer against mirror link he won’t be able to mirror your attacks.

Hint: Boot Locations

To get the Hover Boots go to the Shadow Temple as a adult and go through the invisible wall in the first room and there will be more invisible walls in the next room in one of them there will be a door leading to a deadhand. Beat it to get the Hover Boots. To get the Iron Boots beat the Ice Cavern.

Hint: Bottle Locations

Bottle #1:At Lon Lon Ranch, play Talon’s Super Cucco Game. When you win, you will receive a bottle(1) with Lon Lon milk

Bottle #2: In Kakariko village, find all the cuccos and return them to the pen, then talk to the lady standing next to the pen, she will give you a bottle.

Bottle #3: At Lake Hylia (you must have the silver scale), dive into the water to find a bottle and a letter.

Bottle #4: As adult Link, go to the market and talk to the ghost person in the house directly to the left asyou enter. Go outside and collect poes, once you collect 1000 points, the ghost will give you a bottle.

Hint: Big Bomb Bag

As a kid go to the bombchu game room in Hyrule Town Market. Play a second time, if you win, you will recieve a bomb bag that can hold 30 bombs.

If you’re not very good at bombachu bowling, here’s another way to get a bigger bomb bag. As young Link, go to Goron City. There is a large Goron rolling around. Stop him with a bomb, and he will give you a bigger bomb bag.

Hint: Cure a Wounded Sign

If you slash a sign to smithereens, you can put it back together by playing Zelda’s lullaby on your ocarina. The sign will magically recreate itself in front of your eyes.

Hint: Free Cow

If you return to Lon Lon Ranch after you get Epeona, Malon will challenge you to a race. If you beat 50 sec. she’ll say what she that she wants to give you somthing but it is too heavy to carry. If you return to your house there is a cow in it!

Hint: Finding Gold Skulltulas

Before planting a Magic Bean in a mound of soft dirt, empty a jar of bugs (you can buy them for 50 rupees at Hyrule Market or just find them under rocks) on top of the mound. Catch one of the bugs mmediately afterwards so you don’t have to find or buy more of them. After one of the bugs goes into the mound of dirt, a Gold Skulltula will jump out, except for the mound right next to the bean selling guy.

Hint: Extra Bottles

To get extra bottles go to a place where there are fish swimming in a shallow pool, like the hole behind the potion shop in Kokariko Villiage, or Zora’s fountain. Equip a bottle, and swap at a fish. When he is in mid-swap pause it and equip something useless in the bottle’s place and it will turn into a bottle. DON’T use something important, because you might not be able to get it back.

NOTE: The bottles will appear in your equipment screen, but you may not be able to use them.

Cheat: Epona Item Code

Play through the game until you get to Gannon. Then after he knocks the Master Sword out of Link’s hands, save & quit. When you start at Gannon’s Castle, Leave and go get on Epona in Hyrule Field. Even though the icons are not there, you can use any item you have equipped.(If you use the longshot and it latches on to something, you can fly through anything and everything. Whenever, and wherever you want!)

NOTE: This only works on the GOLD cartridge version of the game (v1.0), other versions (1.1 and 1.2) do not allow this trick.

Hint: Great Faerie Locations

* Magic Spin Slash: On Top of Death Mountain, there is sign, to the left looks like a door, BOMB it to find a door.
* Din’s Fire: In Hyrule castle, once you enter climb up the vines, jump of the gate and run foward, there should be a sign, go past it and use a BOMB to blow up the rock.
* Farore’s Wind: At Zoras Fountain, go to the right once you enter, there is a island with trees and rocks, go there, use a BOMB on the rock on the wall, then run into the cave.
* Double magic meter: Play the Bolero of Fire on the Ocarina, then go across the bridge that leads to the Leader Goron, instead of going into his chamber, go left, equip your MEGATON HAMMER and break the rock.
* Double Energy (Adult): Once you leave the market going towards Ganons Castle, go right, run until you see a bunch of rocks, go past them and you will see a big column, use your GOLD GAUNTLETS to lift it.

Unlockable: Getting the Biggoron Sword

Here is what you need to get and do to receive the Biggoron Sword. This is a great sword since it cuts swings to death practically in half. Some have time limits and don’t warp or else it will reduce time and you need Epona for this. Use the same carrot method when you beat Ingo for this.

How to read: When you read one line, that tells you where you give a certain item to a person (e.x.,Corjiro you get from Kakariko Village from the Cucco Girl). The next line shows you where you give the item you obtained from the previous line to and where the person is.

1. Pocket Egg-Cucco Girl (Kakariko Village) (Note: Make him happy by waking up Talon and then go back to Cucco Girl)
2. Corjiro-Brother of Cucco Girl (Lost Woods)
3. Odd Mushroom-Mother behind potion shop (Kakariko Village)
4. Odd Potion-Kokiri Girl (Lost Woods)
5. Poacher’s Saw-Carpender (Gerudo Valley)
6. Goron’s Sword-Biggoron (Death Mountain)
7. Prescription-King Zora (Zora’s Domain)
8. Eyeball Frog-Professor (Lake Hylia)
9. Eye Drops-Biggoron (Death Mountain)

You will receive a claim check after step 9. Play the Sun’s Song 6 times or wait three days to get the Biggoron Sword. Believe me, it’s worth all that work!

Hint: Hidden Gold Rupees

Don’t wait untill you have 100 Gold Skulltulas to get the golden Ruppee, get it as soon as you get bombs. As either Link, go to Kakariko Village. Right when you walk in there is that tree in the middle. Well take about 10 paces directly behind that tree, you should be in the center of a somewhat open area in the town. (If you have the Stone of Agony, you will feel it rumble.)

Place a bomb there and back away, when it explodes there will be a hole in the ground and kill the two mummies with the Song of the Sun and your sword. A treasure chest will appear with a golden ruppee inside.

Another gold rupee is hidden in the boulder chamber in Goron City. Stay on the left side of the chamber that destroys the rocks. When you get to the end of the line of rocks there should be a gold rupee. In the same chamber there should also be a purple rupee.

For a third, get to the bottom of the well and defeat Dead Hand. Now grab the Lens of Truth and equip it and look for a small chest behind the one you just opened. Open it to reveal a golden rupee.

Hint: Hidden Red Fairies (Gossip Stone)

Low on energy? Find a Gossip Stone (the cycloptic rocks that giggle when you hit them) and play one of the following three songs next to it:
Zelda’s Lullaby, Epona’s Song, or Song of Storms.

Either touch the red fairy that flies out to fill up your energy or catch it in a bottle so that it can revive you if you die.

Hint: Golden Scales

Go to the fishing hut when Link is an adult. If you can catch a 15 pound fish you’ll receive golden scales. These let you dive to 8 meters.

Hint: Multiply Bugs

Got a few empty bottles to fill with bugs? Here’s an easy way to get multiple bugs without having to go look for them. You need one bug to start off with, commonly found under rocks or by bumping into trees. Catch the bug in a bottle. Now empty the bottle out again. Voila, three bugs will come out — now you can fill three of your bottles.

Hint: Scarecrow Song

When you go to Lake Hyrule as young Link, show your Ocarina to the scarecrow. He will ask you to play a song, so create one of exactly 8 notes and remember it. Show and play the song back to the other scarecrow. Come back to the lake as adult Link and play the song to the first scarecrow and you will learn the scarecrow song.

Hint: Secret of Butterflies

Ever wonder what secret the harmless little butterflies are hiding that flutter about Hyrule? As young Link, take out a stick and find some butterflies. Slowly follow them until one touches the stick — which, tadaaaa: turns it into a red fairy. Use a bottle to catch it or touch it to be healed instantly.

Hint: Unlimited Skulltta Coins Glitch

As a kid go to the tree close to where you found Talon the first time, by the castle. Go to the tree nearby and play the song of storms close to the tree. Bomb the walls until you find the gold skulttatta. Kill it and move close to the portal. Grab the coin with the bommarang and step up right before it comes to you. The word “you” or “you des” will be displayed. Do this as many times as you like.

Cheat: Unlimited Gold Skulltillas

First you need to get bombs, the song of storms, and bomerang. First go to hyrule castle if you jump in the moat so the guards won’t see you. Drift until you see a shallow corner, climb up and you will see a tree. play the song of storms. A hole will open up, jump down. There will be several walls that can be blown down with a bomb. On of these has a gold skulltilla behind it. BE CARFUL, first kill the bug then stand right in front of the cirle that sends you back to the surface. Next, throw the bomerang at the token as soon as it hit’s the token step back on the circle. You will be back at the surface. If you did this right the gold skulltilla should still be there. Repeat this process until you have 100 or more.

Hint: Fun with the Fisherman’s Hat

As adult Link, you can hook the fisherman’s hat. Just aim at him, then cast. It may take a few tries to find the right place. You’ll see that he has gone bald!
Now for something totally new. When you have the hat, cast it into the pond. If you cast enough, the hat will come off the hook and sink. The fisherman will charge you 50 rupees for a replacement. But he never gets one. The fisherman will remain without a hat for the rest of the game.

Hint: Free Fish

Instead of buying a fish for Lord Jabbu Jabbu (Which is nearly imposible), Just catch one with a bottle right next to the shop. I know this trick is obvious, but some people just don’t think!

Hint: Mad Soldier

You know that in the castle courtyard there are the pictures, right? Well, there’s also a soldier that’s there. Go to the window opposite of the window with pictures. Use your slingshot and shoot in the window. A soldier will peek out, say something, and throw a bomb at you. It’s not a useful trick, but it’s pretty funny to see.

Hint: Free Hylian Shield

You must NOT have the Hylian Shield already for this trick to work. Go to Kakiriko Graveyard at nightime as a kid and pull back the grave with flowers in the first row of graves. Jump in the pit and open the chest inside.

NOTE: If you already have the Hylian Shield, the chest will contain a blue rupee.

Hint: Tunic Locations

To get the Goron Tunic go to Goron City as an adult and stop the little goron rolling on the 3rd floor with a bomb. Talk to him about the dragon and the gorons and he will give you the Goron Tunic. To get the Zora Tunic go to Zora’s Domain as an adult and unthaw King Zora with a bottle of Blue Fire from the Ice Cavern or the Potion Shop.

Hint: Fun with Gossip Stones

When you are able to use bombs find a gossip stone. Place a bomb at the base of the stone. When the smoke clears the stone should flash blue twice, red once and then blast off.

Also when you get the megaton hammer from the fire temple find a stone and give it a good wallop and the stone will flatten like a pancake.

Don’t worry if you send the stone into space it will come back when you exit the room. When you flatten the stone it should bounce back to its normal shape in a couple of seconds.

Hint: Skulltula Rewards
Kill the following numbers of Skulltula Spiders and receive the items below:

* 10: Adult Wallet (holds 200 rupees)
* 20: Stone of Agony (hidden rumblings)
* 30: Giant Wallet (holds 500 rupees)
* 40: Bombchu (climbs up walls)
* 50: Piece of Heart
* 100: Gold Rupee (see “Unlimited Money”)

Hint: Secret Pictures in Zelda’s Courtyard

Go to the courtyard where you first meet Zelda. Look in the windows, and in one of them you will see some pictures of some familiar video game characters!

Hint: Unlimited Money

For some reason everyone is dissapointed because all you get for finding 100 skulltulla tokens is 200 rupees. Well, actually, it’s infinite. Once you get the first huge rupee, you can come back whenever you want and get another one. I don’t know why no one else has noticed this yet…

Hint: Great Golden Gauntlets

To get the golden gauntlets you must go to Ganon’s Tower and go into the shadow room. Once there get to the platform past the guy that steels your stuff when he sucks you in. Once on the platform you must shoot the un-lit torch or lite it somehow and there should be a pathway that leads down to a switch, press it, a chest sould fall from the cieling, go back up, dont worry if you fall you can come back and the chest should still be there.

Cheat: Unbreakable Deku Sticks
To get an unbreakable Deku Stick you must do the following:

1. Get a lot of Deku Sticks.
2. Equip a Deku Stick.
3. Do the Jumping Slash Attack on an object and either hit the tip or middle of the stick.

The stick will break in half and you will keep one half which is invincible and is twice is strong than Link’s normal sword.

Hint: Travel Hyrule Fields Safely

Are you getting annoyed at the skeletons that pop out of the ground at night when you’re walking around in the Hyrule Fields? Ever tried camouflaging yourself as local wildlife? For example, try puttin on the rabbit mask you get at the mask shop and you will be able to run around freely without the annoying undead attackers.
Note: You need to be young Link to wear masks.

Hint: Red Fairies Galore!

In Lake Hylia go to where the owl is sitting between the two bridges. Talk to him. After you talk to him run away so he doesn’t take you to the castle. Go back to where he was. Then go behind the piece of stone and pull it. Go in the hole and there will be about 20 red fairies!

Hint: How to get Epona the Horse

Getting Epona can be very tricky at times. This guide will help you beat Mr Igno.

1. Learn Epona’s Song. As Young Link talk to Malon in the horse corral in Lon Lon Ranch after meeting Princess Zelda. Talk to her again and show her your ocarina and she’ll teach you Epona’s Song.

2. Become Adult Link and get at least 70 rupees.

3. Talk to Mr. Ingo outside the corral at Lon Lon Ranch and pay 10 rupees to ride the horse. Instead of getting on the horse provided, play Epona’s Song and Epona will run up to you. Ride her around the corral to practice. Wait until the time is up.

4. Talk to Mr. Ingo again and pay to ride again. Play Epona’s Song and get on Epona. This time, walk up to Mr. Ingo while on Epona and use Z Targeting to talk to him. He’ll challenge you to a race with a 50 rupee wager.

5. Win the race against Mr. Ingo. He’ll challenge you to a second race. Win again and you’ll get Epona.

6. Use the A button to get Epona running really fast and jump over any fence to escape the ranch.

Race Tips: Racing Mr. Ingo can be tough. Here’s how to win. Hold forward on the control stick as soon as the race begins. Use 1 carrot (push A to use a carrot) and wait for it to come back before using it again to keep up with Mr. Ingo. Hug the fence and wait for him to move out of your way. Then use up all the carrots you have EXCEPT ONE to speed Epona up and pass him. Wait until a second carrot appears and use it, then keep doing this to keep ahead of Mr. Ingo. NEVER USE YOUR LAST CARROT! Just keep using the second-to-last carrot. If you use the last one you’ll slow down big time and lose.

Hint: Magic Arrows

Fire Arrow – In Lake Hylia, walk across the bridges to get to the tree. Play the Ocarina to make it night time. Equip your bow. Play the flute again, then shoot the sun.

Ice Arrow – In the Gerudo training course, you must collect keys. When you have at least 5, walk into the door in front of the entrance, and use all the keys to make a path. In the big chest you will find the Ice Arrow.

Light Arrow – When you get all of the medallions, go to the Temple of Time. You will find Zelda and she will give it to you.

Hint: Save the Ranch and Get Animals

As a kid go to Lon Lon Ranch. Talk to Malon and she’ll teach you a song. Play it to Epona and she’ll grow fond of you. Then become an adult. Go to Lon Lon Ranch and pay Mr. Indigo to ride a horse. Then when you’re in there, play Epona’s song. Epona will run up to you and you ride her for a minute. Then pay him again, get on epona, ride to Mr. Indigo and speak to him. He’ll ask if you want to race, say yes. Beat him twice. Then he’ll lock you in the ranch. All you have to do is jump over the gate. To get the cow go back to the ranch and talk to Malon. She should ask if you want to do the obstacle course, say yes, and if you break the record you get a cow.

Hint: Stone of Agony

Please note that you must have the Rumble Pak for this secret to happen. Once you aquire the Stone of Agony, equip it, and every time Link approaches an important item in the game, the Stone of Agony will beat real hard the closer you get to the important item. It is basically a little note that your approaching something good.

Hint: Shortcuts Through the Lost Woods

To Get Through The Lost Woods Quickly, Follow These Directions: Go Right, Left, Right, Left, Straight, Left, Right.

To Get To Goron City Quickly From Kokri Forest, Take The First Right, Then a Left, And Go Straight.
NOTE: You Must Have Already Been To Goron City And Blown Up the Boulders Covering the Path.

Hint: Navi’s Hints

Be sure to keep an eye on your fairy companion at all times. When Navi turns green and flies over to a spot, it’s usually an indication that there is something hidden there. If you don’t feel a rumble from the Stone of Agony, then it’s most likely a red fairy (refreshes health and magic). Play the Song of Storms or Zelda’s Lullaby, to lure it out. In some occasions, Navi also points out potential “scarecrow” spots and hidden caves.

Cheat: Super Cuccoo Game Cheat

This should make it a lot easier to catch the Super Cuccoos. As young Link, go to Lon Lon Ranch and enter the first door on the left. The sleeping guy (Talon?) will be there in a room full of chickens. Grab and toss all the chickens into the corner of the room where the bottom of the staircase is. The chickens will get stuck there and won’t roam as much. Now go and play the Super Cucco game. He’ll toss his three “super chickens” into the room. An easy win, now that all the other chickens are stuck in the corner. The prize: A full bottle of Lon Lon milk.

Hint: Magic Bean Square Locations

Here’s the locations of the Magic Bean Squares.

* Lake Hylia by the laboratory.
* Desert Colossus by the temple.
* Gerudo Valley by the bridge.
* To the left of the entrance bridge to Kokiri Forest.
* By the Kokiri shop.
* Lost woods – trail to it: right, left, right, left, and left.
* Zora’s river by the bean selling man.
* Kokariko graveyard at the top-back-left corner.
* Death mountain trail at the foot of dodongo cavern.
* Play the Bolero of Fire to warp into the death mountain crater and the square will be right near the point of arrival.

Hint: Free Lon Lon Milk

If you have an empty bottle, stand in front of any cow and play “Epona’s Song”. The cow will feel energetic and fill your bottle up with Lon Lon Milk for free!

Unlockable: Avatar Rewards

The following Avatar items can be unlocked by performing the actions below

* Elvis Plushie – Complete the special misson (unlocked by beating the game on any difficutly)
* Perfect Dark Shirt – Score a headshot in any game mode

Hint: Shielded Enemies
If there is a level with shielded enemies, use the K7 Avenger, or the AR34. Another way to eliminate them is to use the Mauler with charged up shots. This also works on Skedar Warriors.

Hint: Easier Explosives
On Area 51: Rescue, you don’t need the crate to blow up the wall. Leave the crate where you find it, get a Dragon, then go to the marked wall. Stand back, switch to the secondary mode (proximity self-destruct), throw it by the mark and shoot it a couple of times. Voila!

Hint: Carrington Office Rampage
You can fire weapons out into the rest of the Carrington Institute using the Farsight XR20, but another way to explore the stage in training mode is to use the crate from the cargo area to jam open the doors to the firing range.

Then fire off a tele-guided Slayer round into the main foyer of the Institute. Since the missile has no fuel, you can move it anywhere the heck you want to where there are no closed doors.

Hint: Firing Range Trick
Here’s a handy little trick if you’re having problems beating all the weapons challenges in the firing range. Go into the Carrington Institute firing range and access the Laptop Gun challenge (for any medal). When the training session begins hold down the B button so the gun switches over to the secondary weapon mode (sentry gun). Hit Z to deploy the sentry gun — but as soon as you hit Z hit the START button. Select “abort”, then hit START again as soon as the screen starts to fade. You should now be back at the weapon challenges list. You can now pick any challenge you haven’t completed and commence the training. If done properly, the sentry gun should still be deployed and will start firing at the targets and beat most of the challenges for you. Note that there are some challenges where this trick doesn’t work, such as the RCP-120.

Unlockable: Cheese List
Why are there pieces of cheese hidden in Perfect Dark? Well… The guys who made this game are from England, and… Ah, hell. We don’t know. But here are the cheese locations:

* 1.1: Enter the first big room, with the big ventilation fan, the light switch and the security hub. Just to the right of the security hub is a large gray cylinder, hit the cylinder with some type of explosive. A large hole will open up, enter the hole and you will fall to a small room with 3 vents and a ladder. Inside one of the vents you will find the cheese.
* 1.2: The cheese in the dataDyne research lab is on the pipes below the glass floor in the lab where the bastard scientist sounds the alarm on you. The glass I’m talking about is forward and below from the entrance to that particular lab. At least I think it’s cheese….
* 1.3: On mission 1.3, you can kill a guard to get the keycard [see walkthrough for instructions on how to get this key card] to Cassandra’s office. She isn’t there this time, but there’s a grenade on her table. If you throw it in the right hand corner of the room, one of the walls breaks away. Inside you’ll find a Dragon and… a piece of cheese!
* 2: After activating the wind generator, continue through the underground passages towards Carrington. After going down a set of steps you’ll soon end up in the wine cellar. The first room has two shelves of bottles, but no cheese. Proceed through this room to the narrow hall. Jackpot. You are in a small, narrow hall with a shelf of wine bottles on the left and one further down on the right. The left one has a small piece of stinky yellowy-orange (with darkish looking holes) cheese on top. It’s pretty much in the middle on top, and it’s kinda hard to see. Once you’ve located a spec of yellow, use the sniper rifle to zoom in and inspect your prize. It’s unmistakable — that’s cheese. –Dallas Gow
* 3.1: In a toilet in the Punk Pond bar. [see walkthrough for route into Pond Punk]
* 3.2: In the vent in the Damping Control room. Behold the power of cheese.
* 4.1: Not discovered yet.
* 4.2: In level 4.2, it helps if you have a sniper rifle [cheat]. You have to do it on the difficulty special agent or higher. Blast through the wall and head down to the locker rooms. Go through the door in the middle and kill all the guys there. Go up the ramp across from the door. Then you get to the t-section you should see a section of railing in front of you just to the right. Kneel down and pull out the sniper rifle and look straight ahead down the vent shaft and you will see the cheese. You can walk across the piping and go into the vent shaft but if you go too far you’ll fall into the locker room.
* 4.3: On escape from area 51,on special agent play the level normally, cross the zig-zag bridge that spans across the gorge and make your way through the next room (where johnathon is on agent difficulty)when you come to the next door, just keep heading straight through the series of doors ahead of you until you come across a big room with catwalks and support rails heading off into the left on the first one there is a break in the rail that you can walk out on the rail to a little vent..duck,zoom in with the sniper rifle..and theres that sweet cheddar!!!
* 5.1: Go through the caves where you sedate the stewardess and head to the left of the cable line all the way against the mountain. Pull out your slipery sniper rifle and point and zoom it at the water where the arrowshaped mountain seems to indicate. Swiss cheese it is my fiends. –duros bith
* 5.2: The cheese on the level where you are on Air Force One is on some equipment near where the presidential escape pod is. –Andrew
* 5.3: If you go to the right side of air force 1 on the crash site level and look through the crevice on the right side of the wall guarded by one of those “Scandanavian Freaks”, you’ll see a little speck of yellow. Upon further inspection (with the sniper rifle) it is quite apparent that you are looking at a block of cheese!!! You can’t get to it because of an invisible wall, so you may have trouble finding a good viewing angle.
* 6.1: Say goodbye to Elvis and proceed through the first door. Turn right and go down the hall. Left at the alarm and through the door. There should be a sort of pillar in this smallish area. Keep going a bit and there will be a door on the left. The door leads to the room with the big power thingy (where you have to use the XRayScan to hit switches). Don’t go through the door, but instead walk forward a bit. There will be a large grate in the floor. Shoot out the lights on the floor if they’re too bright, and look down. There’s a big stinking wedge of fromage down there. It’s pretty obvious and unmistakable — that’s cheese.
* 6.2: I found a hidden cheese today while playing my brand new copy of Perfect Dark… In Mission 6.2 (Deep Sea- Nullify Threat) right at the beginning of the level if you look to your right and out the windows that look into the ocean floor, you can catch a glimpse of a piece of cheese near the far back wall of rock. You can get an even better look if you go through the first door straight ahead and look to your right again. It just jumped out at me and I couldn’t resist getting on the IGN Cheese List.
* 7: Shoot the Skedar at the beginning, then go through the door right next to him. You’ll be on a balcony overlooking a landing pad. Directly to your right you’ll see a small ramp leading to a shiny door. Go up the ramp, against the door, and turn around. Above the door you just came through and slightly to the left, you should be able to see the cheese in a narrow crack. Just follow your nose; that cheese has been in the sun for awhile. –donor
* 8: This piece of cheese is easily found. Take the elevator down into the Skedar hangar (with or without Elvis) and turn right after the ramp as you enter the hangar. Head back towards the elevators on the wall in front of you and go into the room on your right. As you enter the room, turn left, crouch and look into the hole in the glass portion of the floor. In the back left corner is a lovely piece of Swiss cheese.
* 9: Next to the Shield (only there in A/SA) at the end of dead end tunnel (head the WRONG way at the start).

Do a 540 spin in variations (Ollie 540s, Nollie 540s, Kickflips, Heelflips, et cetera).

Unlockable – Achievements (Expansion Pack)

You Down With E.P.I.C? (30) – Win a multiplayer match of 3+ rounds in any game type on 6 different downloadable maps

Hint – Animation Exploitation
When playing multiplayer on Xbox Live, you may notice when you are using the chainsaw or curb stomping that you cannot be hurt.

In fact, during a curb stomp you can reload your gun. since you cannot take damage while you are stomping someones face this is a very good time to reload, come out of your animation and continue battle.

Unlockable: Secret Gamer Pic

You must finish the game on Insane difficulty.

Hint – New Gamertag Icons
You get unlock three more gamertag icons for your profile by meeting three achievements:

(1) Beat the game on the Insane difficulty level.

(2) Accrue 10,000 kills in ranked multiplayer matches.

(3) Finish any ranked versus match (so don’t drop out even if you’re losing).

Hint – Cluster Kill Achievement
To get the achievement killing three enemies at once ten times, go to the stage Act 3 – Evolution and locate the area of the Imulsion plant where the guy gets killed when he falls through the rotten wood floor.

Take along at least one grenade and simply follow the dead guy down a hole (or any hole, if you step in the wrong spot). Run around the cellar until you think you have enough enemies following (meaning at least three running after you), tag one with a grenade melee attack.

If you die, that’s perfect, since you restart right at the checkpoint of that room and do it again. Achievement progress are independent of game progress. If not, reload the checkpoint and do it again.

Hint – Advantage Co-Op

The best way to defeat General Raam on Insane is to go with co-op. You have twice the smart firepower allowing one person get the Torque Bow and the other the sniper rifle.

The bow carrying player should have at least ten arrows. The Torque Bow is the only weapon other than the grenades that will hurt the boss seriously when he has his Kryll shield. The explosion of the tips will also send the Kryll flying, allowing your partner to get in a nice head shot with the sniper rifle for a good one-two combo.

Hint – Wretched Fun

Wretches are most annoying since they swarm your soldier and kill him almost instantly on medium and hard. The best method to deal with them is with a shotgun or the alien repeater, since those weapons let you slug them without the dangerous downtime of the chainsaw.

The shotgun is the best for the in-close situation, since you can forego the left trigger and hip fire the shotgun quickly to catch the wretches as they hop around. Smacking them if they get close is the only way to counter, short of using A to dodge.
Hint – How To Defeat General Raam
In order to defeat Raam, you need to have grenades and a sniper rifle which is supplied in the center of the room before entering the boss arena.

After entering the arena, stay behind the wall you ended the cut scene with. This is important because you need to maintain your distance from Raam. Also, it helps to command Don to “cease fire.” This will make him run back towards you keeping him alive longer to distract Raam.

The trick is to get Raam’s swarm away from his body. In order to do this, you need to throw a grenade at Raam. If successful, the swarm will disperse giving you clear head shots using the sniper rifle. Repeat until he’s defeated.

If you run out of grenades or simply cannot aim them, just stay in the lighted areas of floor to avoid the Kryll swarm.

If you don’t defeat Raam by the time he reaches your wall cover, move in the opposite direction he does and shoot when the swarm disperses. You will take damage from Raam’s machine gun, but you stay in the light which prevents the swarm from killing you.

Hint – Corpser Corpse

When you are pitted against the Corpser in the Act 3 mines, there’s a quick way to win. The Lancer’s (chainsaw rifle) constant stream of fire makes it the weapon of choice here. Shoot at the belly of the Corpser, working any angle you can between its legs.

If you hit the belly a few times, it will lift it’s front legs and expose it’s face. Immediately fire up at it’s face and chin. It will shriek and move back.

Hurry, move up grab ammo and repeat. If you don’t move fast enough wretches will arrive in waves and make things ten times harder. You must hit the Corpser’s face three times.

You’ll back it up onto a platform with two destructable joints. They’re lit up and on the ground. Shoot them both and the Corpser will plunge into the Imulsion liquid. If you’re quick enough you can kill the corpser before any wretches arrive.

Unlockable: Insane Difficulty

You must finish the game on Casual or Hardcore difficulty.
Hint – Berserker Beat Down (Then Beat Yourself Down)
To defeat the Beserker at the end of act one, simply dive to the side when she charges at you. Run through the doorway to your right and continue to the door at the end of the room and face your back to it. Get the Berserkers attention by shooting at her or revving the chainsaw then, dive away at the last moment when she charges causing her to break the door down for you.

Continue this to get through the next two doors. When you finally lure her into the courtyard simply use the Hammer of Dawn twice to take her down. If Dom is killed the mission is over, so revive him if he’s knocked down.

The second one in Act 4 is defeated similarly. Defeating the second berserker. There are six stone supports for the second part of the greenhouse. Lead the berserker through the six supports, you will see glass dropping from the ceiling. Once all six supports have been taken out, two shots with the Hammer of Dawn will crisp her.

Hint: Quick Reload

When reloading your weapon, watch the upper-right corner of the screen for a meter that counts down. Press the reload button a second time when the meter’s moving bar matches up with the stationary bar. This will give you a super fast reload and put you back in the fight quicker than normal. However, if you mis-time the second button press your reload will take longer than normal.

Hint: Avoiding the Kryll

In the second chapter of the game, you’ll be swarmed by enemy kryll if you so much as set foot in the dark. To avoid being attacked, stay in the light at all times. When there’s no light in sight, look for propane canisters you can blow up to create some flames that’ll scare off the kryll.

Hint: Regain Health

Unlike most games, you can regain all of your health in Gears of War without the need for health packs. Simple stay in cover for a few seconds and watch as the bright-red gear in the center of the screen fades away. When the gear has comlpetely disappears, your health will be completely full.

Hint: Fighting the Wretches

When fighting wretches–the small, shrieking enemies that don’t use weapons–attack with melee strikes. The best melee strikes come from weapons other than your grenades and Lancer chainsaw rifle. The chainsaw attack is too slow to combat the swarming wretches, so stick to quick-hit melee punches for instant kills.

Hint: Finding Cog Tags

There are thirty hidden Cog Tags scattered throughout the game. They’re small and sometimes hard to find, but there’s a a mark you can look out for that’ll make finding the Cog Tags easier. Look for large, red Gear logos pasted on the walls–if you find a room with this large Gear logo, examine the room and you’re sure to find a Cog Tag somewhere.

Hint: Sucker Born Every Minute Achievement/Trophy

The description for the Sucker Born Every Minute Achievement/Trophy says “Paid for a worthless tour of the world’s largest bullet.” Go go the huge bullet and there should be a building closest to the bullet. There will be arrows pointing to a box with a $ sign on it. Simply activate the prompt here to get the Achievement/Trophy.

Hint: Rider Sniper Rifle

In New Haven there there are two hidden chests. When you recieve the quest to enter Trash Coast, head to New Haven. Head toward the blue shack (below the area where the repair kit is). Stand near the door and it will open. Ride the elevator down and to the basement. Defeat the Psychos and open the red chest to find the Rider. Rider is a unique sniper rifle manufactured by Gearbox, the maker of Borderlands. This weapon, along with other details in the room (a trash pile Christmas tree and a grisly leg lamp) are references to the movie “A Christmas Story.”

Hint: Faster Firing Rate

Weapons with exceedingly slow firing rates (i.e. powerful sniper rifles) can be made less laggy if you melee after each shot. This will reset the firing rate timer, allowing you to instantly fire again.

Hint: Elemental Effects

In Borderlands some weapons have an elemental effect. These are usually very useful but there are drawbacks. Enemies might have special resistant shields or an elemental animal will naturally resist what you shoot it with. Here is a rundown of each elemental effect:

Fire – When you tag an enemy with fire they take gradual damage until they die or it goes out. Fire damages enemies more if they’re shield is gone. Additionally, enemies tend to freak out and lose accuracy when burning.

Shock – Shock damage is like the reverse of fire. It deals an incredible amount of damage to an enemy’s shield but loses effectiveness once they’re down to their health meter. Also, enemies don’t usually panic when shocked.

Acid – Possibly the best all-around element. Acid damage easily eats through armored opponents (like Spiderants and Crimson Lance soldiers) and can spread to multiple enemies if they happen to touch each other while panicking. The only drawbacks to it are that Acid-type enemies are about 90% immune to it and if you try Iron-sight aiming the acid splash from your gun-muzzle can throw off your aim.

Explosive – Not so much an element as a bonus. Randomly when you shoot an enemy with a bullet from an explosion-type gun it will explode and deal extra damage relative to the weapon’s base damage. Try to aim for groups.

Eridian – Whenever you find an Eridian weapon try shooting an enemy. Sometimes extra effects not mentioned in the description will occur. The 10101 Cannon is a good example of a Shock/Explosion combination element.
Hint: Quick Money and Items

Want purple and orange items without having to kill a single enemy? Once you get to “New Haven,” head to the save/transport post near “Scooter” and save your game. Then, there are 2 red chests and 3 silver chest in town…4 of them on rooftops, and one that the claptrap rescue opens for you. Just loot them all, keep what you want, sell what you don’t want and then save your game. Log off, then log back in to repeat the process. Check all the vending machines each time as they will offer great items as well.

Here is a rundown of the loot route from at the save/transport post near Scooter:

Red Chest #1 – On the roof of the building directly right of the save post. Go to the side with the yellow barrel, jump few times and you are there.

Silver Chest #1 – From the save post, turn directly left and go up the stairs, keep going in the same direction, cross the wood plank and then jump the railing to the other building. Turn a slight right around the corner.

Red Chest #2 – from Silver Chest#1…some tricky jumps, but not too hard. Simply look out to the red tarp hanging over a little platform and make a running jump to land on the tarp. Then turn around till you see the Red Chest, make another jump (not too high or you will get caught on the red tarp over the chest and fall off).

Silver Chest #2 – After completing the Claptrap Rescue this Silver Chest will be in a little shed across the courtyard from the Bounty Board (you just have to crouch to get in there).

Silver Chest #3 – From the save post go forward and go up the stairs where the dollar sign and arrow are. Hop on top of the washing machine, then on top of the roof with the big antenna. The Silver Chest is behind it.
Cheat: Invincibility

Note: Alter game files at your own risk and always make backups! Go to the game folder (My Documents\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config\) and open WillowGame.ini in a text editor.

Search for bDemiGodMode and change it to bDemiGodMode=true.

Your health will never decrease below 1!.

Cheat: More Inventory Slots

Note: Alter game files at your own risk and always make backups! Go to the game folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Gearbox Software\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config) and open DefaultGame and look for this:

InventorySlotMax_Misc=X

Change X to your desired amount of slots (default 12)

Cheat: Berserker Speed Exploit

Make sure you’re in a fight with more than one enemy and your health is extremely low (10-20). Activate Berserker just before you enter Fight For Your Life! Mode, then kill someone to gain a Second Wind. If done properly, you should be able to run as fast as Brick can in Berserker mode AND you’ll be able to fire your weapons. Note: you’re not able to sprint while using this, but why would you need to anyway? Activating his Berserker mode again and finishing it, OR dying will cancel the effect.

Unlockable: New Game +

Complete the game to unlock a New Game + mode. Some items and stats will carry over into the new game and enemies will be tougher.

Cheat: Duplicate Items

To make a copy of any item you’ll need a cooperative partner in a multiplayer game. Simply drop what you want to make a copy of on the floor, exit the game without saving, leaving your friend free to grab it. When you return, you’ll have your copy of the weapon still, and your friend can hand you the other. This works on all guns, shields, and class mods, and can be done as many times as necessary.

Hint: Easy 20,00 EXP

As soon as you are able to get a vehicle, find a safe place away from enemy spawn points and find a way to keep the trigger held down (tape? rubber band?). Just walk away for a few hours and after you have unloaded 100,000 shots from the vehicle you will get 20,000 exp.

Hint: Item Storage using an Alternate Character

An effective, but annoying, way to store your extra stuff is to create an alternate character that is only for holding your extra stuff. Just create a new character, load a co-op game with both your main character and your new level 1 character and give them the items you want to put up. Log back in to your level 1 character and give the items back to your main character when you need them. This can be really useful when you find weapons and items that are above your level, or are saving them to give to a friend’s character.

Hint: Easy Escape After Defeating Sledge

After you’ve defeated Sledge (and collected the artifact), exit and save your game. When you start you’re game again you’ll begin at the save point at the very beginning of the mission. This way you don’t have to backtrack on foot and you’ll save a lot of ammo too.

Cheat: Gain Levels and Money Before Entering Borderlands

In the first scene, when you’re getting the tour with the scrap robot, follow him all the way through to the small campsite with the car up on the lift next to the burning tires. Collect all the loot (guns, money) along the way and kill all of the guys. Once everyone is dead simply pause the game and go to exit. It will save your character (level & loot) and start you at the very beginning upon loading your game. You can repeat this as many times as you’d like!

Hint: Reload Quickly

Watch your reload animation. As soon as the cartridge is removed (or rounds are being inserted), perform a melee and the gun will finish reloading. Do this to save time and possibly your life.

Easter Egg: Harmless Shenanigans

“Kung Fu Flip”

Take cover behind anything you can jump over, such as a BoomShield or low wall. Quickly press Up + A, then press A again. Wait a split second, then press Down + A. It will look as if you flipped back into cover.

“Levitation”

Take cover behind any thing you can jump over, such as a BoomShield. Quickly press Up + A then quickly press A again. Was I floating there for a second?
Easter Egg: Meatflag’s Stats

At the end of a round of Submission, press Y to view the game’s stats. The Meatflag (A winner is Franklin!) will have a fake Gamercard for their name. You can read up on their stats and Achievements.

Easter Egg: The Cloistered Toaster

In Act 4, Chapter 5 you’ll meet up with Dom again. Down the hallway a bit you’ll come across a room with columns and a staircase leading down. Between two thin columns is a short stone pedestal. Melee it and it will crumble. Inside you’ll find an out-of-place kitchen appliance. You can activate the toaster with X and witness humorous reactions from Marcus and Dom.

Hint: Horde Mode Shield Placement

Note: The 1/20/2009 update disables this action.

If you’re playing Horde mode on a level with a Boom Shield, you can use it to block off a choke point to make the onslaught easier to manage – but it has to be planted backwards or else the Locust will merely stomp over it. As long as the Boom Shield’s handle is facing away from you, they’ll be stopped. You must replace the Shield after every wave.

Easter Egg: Cowboy Hats for All

To achieve one of the more bizarre feats in the Gears of War saga, you first need to make sure you’re set on Insane Difficulty. At the very beginning of Chapter 3 there are three cowboy hats in the environment around your rig that can be shot with your pistol. Facing the front of the rig, the first hat is behind you and to the right on the side of a cabin with a rustic barbwire trim. The second hat is on the opposite side (the left side when facing the front of the rig) under the big-wheeled mobile cannon, between the wheels. The final hat is just past the second, on the same side, beneath the end of the second fuel tank. Your reward for your sharpshooting will be cowboy hats… and lots of them. Everyone in your rig will suddenly resemble the cast of Hey Dude, a locust driving a rig that you must kill later will be sporting a fashionable ten-gallon, and even a massive Corpser will get rodeo fever down the road.

If you are not on Insane Difficulty, the hats will still be there, but will be invisible. You can still shoot them if you know their precise locations.

Additions by Thajying Thao

Hint: Difficulty Trick

If you want to beat the game on Insane Difficulty but are having trouble, try the following. Start each chapter on Casual Difficulty after having unlocked Insane Difficulty. Then, before reaching the final checkpoint on any given chapter, switch the difficulty over from Casual to Insane. Then, finish the chapter. The game will record that you’ve completed that particular chapter on Insane Difficulty, even though you played a vast majority of the chapter on Casual Difficulty.

Hint: Eleven Executions

Apart from the 15 weapon kills (all of them are in the manual, aside from the Troika and Boomshield), the unique executions are probably the hardest things to figure out. You must have an opponent on the ground and crawling to do these executions. Luckily, you can do them on any mode (campaign, horde, multiplayer, etc.). Anyway, there they are:

* Curb Stomp — BLUE button with any weapon.
* Punch Combo — YELLOW button with any weapon (except the ones listed below).
* Neck Snap — press GREEN button to take an enemy hostage, then context action to snap necks.
* Any weapon (except the ones below w/ RED fatal) — RED button fatality
* Longshot — YELLOW button fatality
* Longshot (alternate) — RED button fatality.
* Boltok — YELLOW button fatality.
* BoomShield — YELLOW button fatality.
* Gnasher — RED button fatality (hold while stationary over victim).
