Ah the A3-21 Plasma Rifle; it is one of the strongest weapons in fallout 3 not only that but you can get it relatively quickly as well it’s also stylish to boot.

So do you want one?

Do the quest ‘The replicated man’ which involves searching for an escaped android from the commonwealth. The android is chief harkness, of rivet city but you will need to find clues that link the android to pinkerton, who can be found in the lower half of rivet city, before you can confront him about it.

When you have confronted him about it, offer to kill the scientist who wanted you to find him, and he will give you his plasma rifle, which does more damage than a regular plasma rifle and is more valuable. you can also get a perk from the scientist and the plasma rifle, by repeating the step above, but instead of killing him, turn in the android and you will be able to keep both rewards, although harkness will disappear from the game.

Too much work?

You could make your own A3-21 Plasma Rifle. If you’ve been paying attention to the pictures in the article or indeed if you’ve actually read the title you might of noticed pictures of the A3-21 Plasma Rifle all over the place. This replica rifle was done by the very talented Ryan Palse (CitizenStrips) and painted by his wife Dena Palse.

Check out some pictures of the finished project.

Here’s some work in progress .

… and here is the in-game model and the replica together so you can compare.

It’s only a small teaser really but it gives us a little peak of what to expect out of Co-op mode. I suggest you take a look then figure out who is the most patient/competent freind you know.

Previously known as “Project Icarus” BioShock Infinite is an upcoming FPS being developed by Irrational Games and is only indirectly connected to the first 2 Bioshock games. It is due to be released in 2012 for PS3, 360 and PC and will feature a new protagonist former Pinkerton agent, DeWitt and the entirely new setting of “Columbia” a collapsing air-city.

Although Infinite will feature similar game-play concepts from the ones we have seen from the previous games the story takes place in a radically different time and place. Namely “Columbia” a city suspended in the air by giant blimps and balloons that was proudly boasted by the American government when launched in 1900, centralized on the idea of American Exceptionalism. Like Rapture however, Columbia is considered a failed utopia with signs present suggesting a theocratic government took control at some point.

Set in 1912 you play the role of Booker DeWitt a disgraced former agent, hired by individuals to invade the air-city and rescue Elizabeth, a woman that was abducted by Columbia as a girl.

Take a look at the trailer.

Ah Dan Hibiki he may be a terrible, terrible fighter but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming a fan favourite, you may have perfected the use of Ryu but a real master can defeat you with anyone.

If your a fan of the pink gi wearing pugilist or slightly more likely a fan of the ever manly Red Cyclone Zangief then you will be happy to find out that Saikyo-Master from Deviantart has created the blueprints for you to make your own cubey version. Remember to save to get the full sized version.

As if Bobby Kotick wasn’t unpopular enough it has become apparent that the Tim Schafer, designer of critically acclaimed games Full Throttle, Grim Fandango and er… Brutal Legend, believes that he is bad for the gaming industry even suggesting that Kotick go into weapons manufacturing.

“His obligation is to his shareholders,” says Schafer. “Well, he doesn’t have to be as much of a dick about it, does he? I think there is a way he can do it without being a total prick. It seems like it would be possible. It’s not something he’s interested in.”

“He [Kotick] makes a big deal about not liking games, and I just don’t think that attitude is good for games in general. I just don’t think we’re an industry of widgets,”

“We can approach it like we approach bars of soap, where you’re just trying to make the cheapest bar of soap. He definitely has that that kind of widget-maker attitude. I don’t think he’s great for the industry, overall. You can’t just latch onto something when it’s popular and then squeeze the life out of it and then move on to the next one. You have to at some point create something, build something.”

“Hopefully he’ll go back to another industry scene. He could go to an industry that makes more money. Ball bearings… something that suits his passions more. Weapons manufacturing?”

All we know for sure is Bobby Kotick is pretty damn high on the Jack Thompson scale of internet hatedom.

More Other M footage and this time we get to take a little peak at combat. If course it looks solid, I wouldn’t expect any less although I am intrigued to see how well the shift between first person view and side view, as the discription of of it sound incredibly good. “Explore and fight in third-person by holding the Wii Remote sideways, and – at any time you choose – switch immediately to a first-person view through Samus’ eyes by simply pointing the Wii Remote at the screen.”

Again, and I can’t say this enough, I’m glad that gaming companies have figured out that 2D games are viable in a 3D era… athough in this case I suppose it is 2.5D what ever that means.

Well the vid is below so check it out.

Crytek and IllFonic announced today that the CryENGINE 3 has been licensed for IllFonic’s futuristic Arena FPS Nexuiz, their upcoming release on the XBLA and PSN. Fans of Nexuiz, previously a pc only, open-source first person shooter developed by Alientrap should appreciate the graphical update and potentially larger user-base.

“IllFonic firmly believes in bringing the consumer the highest quality games at an affordable price through downloadable distribution channels”, said Charles Brungardt, President of IllFonic. “Switching to CryENGINE 3 has helped us stay true to our vision and build the Nexuiz arenas the way we see it without any limitations. We are incredibly proud that Nexuiz will be the first downloadable title developed on CryENGINE 3.”

“We’re delighted to have Illfonic join our community of licensees”, said Carl Jones, Director of CryENGINE Global Business Development. “It’s exciting to see a passionate group like Kedhrin and Charles’ team working with CryENGINE 3 on such a cool title. Nexuiz is going to deliver a game style that will be a blast for the console audience, matched with the best graphics possible on the consoles. We’re delighted to offer our engine to teams for XBLA and PSN titles so that gamers can enjoy the quality that CryENGINE 3 can provide, as soon as possible. Our real-time multiplatform pipeline, Live Create, is highly suited to prototyping and delivering quality for games with shorter development cycles; and you get all the benefits of the AAA features of the engine. Nexuiz is going to be a lot of fun and we’re glad Illfonic have chosen CryENGINE 3 to deliver it in style.”

“When we were strolling around GDC 2010′s floor we stopped by the Crytek booth. I watched someone show off a few features of CryENGINE 3. Right then and there, I knew I had to have it. It’s powerful, fast and easy to use,” said Kedhrin Gonzalez, Creative Director of IllFonic. “Crytek has been awesome to work with providing excellent support in a relationship that has really benefited us.”

Okay now for the blurb.

‘Nexuiz is a fast paced Arena first-person shooter with competitive game play built specifically for consoles. Featuring the innovative mutator system, players progress through the ranks opening up new mutators that allow players to alter the rules for each match. On launch, Nexuiz will feature multiplayer modes including Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag complete with full competitive leader boards designed for social networking. New games modes, models, and maps will be available as downloadable content post launch.

Set in a galactic war fueled for centuries by the Kavussari and Forsellians. Over time the two races entered into treaties with the Herald Accord, a union between different cultures in the galaxy. Even though peace settled across their planets, the seething hatred between the races kept the fire of war simmering under the fragile truce. Sensing their newest members could spread war throughout the galaxy; the Herald Accord gave the Kavussari and Forsellians a choice. Pit their warriors against each other in the arena rather than on the fields of war, or face total annihilation. The Nexuiz was formed, a series of battle arenas on the home planets of the Kavussari, Forsellian and the desolate planet of Atavirta.’

IllFonic will be showcasing Nexuiz using CryENGINE 3 at this year’s PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington, on September 3-5.

I’m currently trying to find some old Wii advertising to see if it was anywhere near as bad the Sony/Microsoft advertising. I don’t remember it being that bad, I remember it being announced as the ‘Wii’ which everyone thought was the stupidest sounding name ever but then still buying one. I don’t remember adverts packed with happy familys playing games together and filling out various sterotypes and grinning madly as they play.

Perhaps I have rose-tinted glasses on but the Wii launch didn’t seem anywhere near this bad, Wii sports seems a bit lacking but it nicely showed off the functionality of the Wii. The main problem of course is the Wii only got to a good place by generally dropping the gimmick and rehashing their popular franchises.

Give it time, they’ll get it out of their systems. Meanwhile in check out Move games: The Shoot, Sports Champions and KungFu Rider.

Neko Entertainment, looking to be the worlds first musical platform game just announced the release of Maestro! Green Groove which is available throughout Europe from the Nintendo Shop Channel on Nintendo DSiWare™.

Maestro! Green Groove has an interesting concept, the idea is being is to combine the “standards of platform gaming “with the “pleasure of musical creation” in a way never done before. It certainly sounds like an intriguing concept.

“We are pleased to announce the launch of Maestro! Green Groove for Nintendo DSiWare™ owners throughout Europe”, said Laurent Lichnewsky, Managing Director of Neko Entertainment, “Its perfect mix of platform adventure gaming and musical creation featuring some of the world’s best known compositions will appeal to players both you and old”.

Set in the deep, dark tropical forests of the Green Groove World, the player will take control of the colourful and music loving Presto. Use of the stylus allows the player to strum, run and tap to the rhythm of a Bollywood musical orchestra whose reinterpretation of classics such as Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, accuracy is key here.

Maestro! Green Groove promises fun challenges including special strings, goofy enemies, crazy targets and epic musical battles against Presto’s rival. This is also one of the only games that utilizes the DSi microphone allowing players to “let their vocal cords loose “with the melodies featured in the game. Whether or not people will be comfortable doing this outside of their house is another issue. After all, the point of hand-helds is to be able to play games on the go.
