I’m currently trying to find some old Wii advertising to see if it was anywhere near as bad the Sony/Microsoft advertising. I don’t remember it being that bad, I remember it being announced as the ‘Wii’ which everyone thought was the stupidest sounding name ever but then still buying one. I don’t remember adverts packed with happy familys playing games together and filling out various sterotypes and grinning madly as they play.

Perhaps I have rose-tinted glasses on but the Wii launch didn’t seem anywhere near this bad, Wii sports seems a bit lacking but it nicely showed off the functionality of the Wii. The main problem of course is the Wii only got to a good place by generally dropping the gimmick and rehashing their popular franchises.

Give it time, they’ll get it out of their systems. Meanwhile in check out Move games: The Shoot, Sports Champions and KungFu Rider.
