Konami has just announced that Silent Hill is in the works for the PS3 and Xbox 360. However, this new series will be developed by a completely new developer team.

The franchise’s previous developers who worked on the series included Climax Group and Double Helix Games, producing the titles Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Silent Hill Homecoming respectively.

The franchise has certainly seen its low points in recent years, particularly Silent Hill Homecoming which didn’t receive the best reception by fans – although Silent Hill: Shattered Memories was considered a creative take on the franchise. Who knows, maybe a new developer might give the series a fresh break?
