Did you know that you can use a Playstation 3 as a portable alternative to watching DVD movies? There are a few simple steps that can be taken to convert DVD movies to format that is compatible with playback on PS3 systems and all that is needed is the proper software and a Mac computer.

1. Download the Handbrake software by searching “Handbrake” on the Web site www.download.com and install it to your computer.
2. Put the DVD of your choosing into the computer and open the new Handbrake software.
3. Select the DVD in the source menu within the Handbrake program and allow it to read the DVD.
4. Select the “PS3″ output feature and select a destination for the completed movie file.
5. Allow the DVD to convert. This is usually a two hour process.
6. Copy the movie file to an external hard drive when the file is complete.
7. Remove the external hard drive from the computer and place into the Playstation 3.
8. Select the movie file from the main menu and then select “copy”.
