Sega Classic Gets Upgrade on Next Gen Consoles
The game After Burner is the standard by which all jet fighter simulators are measured by. When After Burner came onto the scene it was like being a Top Gun. Not the movie, no need to feel the need for speed, just a few quarters, and an itchy trigger finger to blast your enemies out of the sky. I remember seeing both the full arcade version where you actually sat inside the game, and the standard stand up arcade version very clearly. I dropped many quarters into that machine, the game was visually amazing for its time.
Now Sega’s classic is getting a major upgrade on our next gen consoles with After Burner: Climax. The game was originally released in 2006 and is the fourth title of the After Burner series. The game introduces some new jets to the series, the F/A-18E Super Hornet and the F-15E Strike Eagle, while the familiar F-14 Tomcat has been replaced by the new F-14D Super Tomcat. Players will also be able to decide on the paint job for their jet as well as the soundtrack they want to listen to.
The game is an excellent throw back to why simulator games can be fun. The skies are full of enemies all gunning for you, do you have the skill to take them on?
