February’s Highly Anticipated Games
Star Trek Online (PC)
Star Trek fans are rejoicing at what is sure to be a massive online game in the world they know and love. Developed by Cryptic Studios the games takes place 30 years after Star Trek Nemesis. The game will start players off as captain of their own ship, either for the Federation or for the Klingon Empire. How’s that for a promotion?
Cryptic Studios has confirmed that after launch they will continue making new star systems to explore, expanding the already huge in-game universe that will surely be a different experience for all players. Game hits stores on Februrary 2, 2010.
White Knight Chronicles (PS3)
When an RPG is mentioned, many listen, and this is no different. White Knight Chronicles, created by Level-5 and Japan Studio, is presented from a third party perspective boasting over 100 hours of gameplay, making it a full RPG in Akhiro Hino’s perspective. The game offers both in game and online gaming portions that create a diverse gameplay for all users.
The story revolves around a prince’s coming of age party that is abruptly ended when attacking forces invade the castle. In his attempt to flee for safety with a princess he come across an ancient suit of armor in the bowels of the castle that transform him into the legendary warrior, the White Knight.
Alien vs Predator (multi-platform)
There are few franchises that are more beloved than the Alien and Predator series. Combining the two was a match long awaited for in film, though there had been previous crossovers in the world of video games. This new iteration is another action packed first person shooter developed by Rebellion Develoments.
The game offers three different game play perspectives, from the Aliens, the Predators, and the Colonial Marines. Each storyline with its unique ending all tying in very closely. Game release date is set for February 16th.
Bioshock 2 (multi-platform)
This first person shooter sequel, developed by 2K Marin and 2K Austrailia, is set in fictional dystopian city Rapture in alternative 1970, a decade after the events of BioShock. The game brings back the recognizable world exploration system only this time your character has no recollection of the past decade and must both unlock the past and save the city of Rapture before its destroyed. Game release date is February 9th.
Dante’s Inferno (multi-platform)
Dante’s Inferno is an action adventure game developed by Visceral Games and sporting the name of the famous piece of literature of the same title. You follow Dante, who after fighting in the Crusades and a series of romantic mishaps is thrust before the presence of Death. Condemned for his sins, he is determined to fight his way through the many levels of hell for his love and his freedom. Game release date is February 9th.
Heavy Rain (PS3)
Heavy Rain appears to be one of those epic games that people will either love or hate. Details are scarce about the game other than what we see in the footage and what the tag line is “How far will you go for someone you love?” The game developed by Quantic Dream is being advertised as a very dark film noir thriller. The game does not look like a game for young audiences with very mature themes suggested. Game is expected to be released on February 11th.
