Sims 3 Is 2009′s Best Selling PC Game
Electronic Arts has said that The Sims 3 was named the world’s largest PC game of 2009.
The firm says that it’s the sixth time this decade that The Sims franchise was named the best-selling PC title. The original The Sims was the bestselling PC game worldwide from 2000 to 2003, until it was dethroned by its own sequel, which was the best-selling PC game of 2004 and held the number two spot for 2005 and 2006. Additionally, The Sims 3 World Adventures holds a position on the top 10 PC lists around the world.
“Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, The Sims franchise and its official websites continue to thrive and provide a place for players to create, share, expand their gameplay experiences, and explore,” said the company in a statement.
“The Sims 3 in particular has one of the strongest communities—the official website sees more than six million unique monthly visitors. Over 100 million pieces of content have been downloaded from the The Sims 3 Exchange in just seven months. Previously it took years to reach the 100 million marker. The Exchange enables fans to share custom content such as Sims, clothing, houses, objects and now worlds with the Create a World Tool beta.”
